Been a while since a Marvel trailer had me considering a trip to a theater. Good to see Ghost back.

I hope this is the catalyst to send Marvel back to the days of doing good films!
Looks good.

We’ll see. I immensely distrust Disney, and it takes time for a company to course correct, if indeed that’s what’s happening. We’re likely to get a couple of years of crap that had already been commissioned. Remember Agatha came out, and whilst I hate to quote Glaswegians, it’s pure dead bogging.
As always, if you happened to somehow enjoy Agatha, great. I’m happy for you.

I feel the same, but rumour has it the House of the Mouse has, well, cleared house...
Hopefully some decent script/screen writers and producers/directors will get some gainful employment.

They keep saying that, but the leadership that made all these terrible decisions, are still in place. The place is not being run to the benefit of shareholders. KK has been repeatedly been allowed to nuke Star Wars into the ground, and Feige saw what she was doing, and liked it enough to do it to marvel.

SW is dead to me until KK is removed and replaced with someone respectable.

Watched John Wick 2 today, a.k.a "John's No-Good, Very Bad 3-Day Weekend Continues, Featuring Even Worse Decisions by People who Literally Just Watched John Murder a Million Dudes and Should Probably Know Better By Now, and also starring The Most Oblivious or Nonchalant Civilians in both Rome and New York." Clearly it had a bigger budget than the original, but I kind of liked the original better.

Honestly the best thing they could do is close Lucasfilm and license the IP out, at this point.

Couldn't agree more. I am still in mourning and will be for some time.

Watched Criminal a couple of weeks ago. It was sold to me as a Ryan Reynolds movie. It was not a Ryan Reynolds movie, but a cameo. Film had a much better cast than it deserved, including Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, Tommy Lee Jones, and Gal Gadot. Lost interest by the third act completely, though I was checking my phone on and off before that.

For some light hearted nonsense, I recommend The Christmas Chronicles 1&2.
Just to get you in the mood if anything! We watch them every year; better than the Hallmark rinse & repeat plotlines. Kurt Russell makes a good Father Christmas actually!

Watched Dog Day Afternoon for the first time. DAMN what a relevant film despite being made in the 70's.

Watched Ambushed. Mainly for the fact Vinnie Jones and Dolph Lundgren were in it. If you choose to watch it, I hope you enjoyed Vinnie’s 10 minutes before he completely disappears from the movie. Dolph is at least semi important to the plot. The actual leads are a pair of nobodies, one whom’s only claim to fame is being related to the last good Timelord actor, Peter Capaldi. The film itself, is fairly decent, not good, but not the worst way to spend your time.

Quote:
As for Time Lords, I actually think both Jodie Whittaker and Ncuti Gatwa have been fine as actors for Doctor Who. The Doctor's incarnations tend to have a theme. Whittaker's Doctor's theme was clearly intended to be the value of "found family" and that's a very Doctor Who story to tell. Unfortunately for Whittaker, the combined acting souls of Peter Capaldi, David Tennant, and Tom Baker combined couldn't have salvaged those scripts. My personal jury is still out on Gatwa. I liked and disliked his episodes so far in about equal measure, but regardless, I'm happy to see an incarnation that's not fixed as a tragic and remorseful character. It's been awhile. Back on topic though, the last film I watched was a rewatch of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? because sometimes you just have to sit down and take the time to enjoy a really, perfectly fun film. Again. Also, according to the internet, before casting Bob Hoskins, the studio tried to get Harrison Ford, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, and Eddie Murphy. I have created entire fantasy worlds to serve as the backdrops of writing and roleplaying, but I still can't imagine that film with any of them playing Eddie Valiant. |
