Yeah, it's a bummer fir sure... it shouldn't be much an issue once we're united in a quest though~
I am really enjoying myself here.

All sorts of sci fi, and fantasy. Orsen scott card is probably my favorite author atm, but he hasn't released anything in a while. (Probably because he was busy with the movie The book was SO MUCH BETTER!ender's game.

Hahaha, it always is isn't it?
I haven't read them actually. My job affords me quite a lot of peace and quiet to listen to audio books, which I usually do. Lately it's been a large amount of HP Lovecraft, but I have almost consumed the body of his work... which is why I asked. Basically for recommendations.

Yep, people are having fun so far!
Just in case you missed it in the OOC Montage, I was wondering if we're allowed to take exotic languages like Celestial, Draconic, etc.? The book says it's up to the GM. And in response to your question Ganguropocky: |

I usually read fantasy and sci-fi. I'm currently reading Michael J. Sullivan's Ryria Revelations and Ryria Chronicles, and I love it.

Most of my reading is text books. I just finished the latest book in ASOIAF. A friend of mine recommended the series The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie, but I haven't had a chance to start it yet. I read Tune in Tokyo: The Gaijin Diaries earlier this year, but I don't think it's a book people who have never lived in Japan would really get.

I generally don't have too much time to read, but I'm studying abroad this semester and my school in the US requires us to take fewer credit hours than what is normal for the school I'm at in Europe. In other words, now that I'm basically broke from traveling, I've taken the opportunity to catch up on my reading a bit.
Ender's Game and Speaker of the Dead are both phenomenal books that cover much darker topics than your average sci-fi book. I also really like The Gentleman Bastards Sequence by Scott Lynch (Lies of Locke Lamora, etc.), The Lightbriner Series by Brent Weeks, The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss, the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson, and the Darkest Minds Novels by Alexandra Bracken (dystopian/sci-fi more than fantasy) As far as non-fantasy/sci-fi stuff, the Wolf Hall trilogy by Hilary Mantel (Oliver Cromwell is a badass), The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt (dark read, but absolutely incredible book - reminds me a bit of Catcher and the Rye), and a lot of the classic dystopian novels like Brave New World and 1984. |
