Just after I posted, I read what I wrote and had a serious impulse to reply with "I can neither confirm nor deny my consent with the arrangement."
But, seriously, this is needed to move on and start the journey. Last edited by PsychicNomad; Dec 9th, 2022 at 09:33 AM. |

Yep, All good with those suggestions. Roan will also be able to fulfil the Hunter role if Arn doesn't want to take it and offer aid to the Scout and Lookout (And Hunter Arn) so they can make their checks at advantage when needed

Wren is fine with Helping whoever needs it, and, more importantly, being prepared if someone has to talk us out of an issue.

The Embarkation Roll:
Moderate terrain along the river -> Peril Rating = 2 Roan as guide should make a d12 - 2 + Survival + Wis/2 roll to get the result in the Embarkation Table |

As Roan is the Guide and the journey is through his known lands the peril rating is reduce by 2 to 0. so D12 plus either 10 or 11 depending on if a half wisdom bonus of +3 is rounded up or down (Survival +9, half Wisdom +1/+2). I'll set the dice roll to +10 assuming its rounded down but could be higher on GM call

The book's Survival proficiency bonus is somewhat misleading, I did some research and [skill] proficiency bonus does not include the ability modifier or anything else, it means either 0 or the proficiency bonus itself, based on character level and whether they are proficient in the skill in question or not. I decided to check this because a +10 modifier would basically make no sense, it would result in almost no risk at all from level 1.
D&D rounds down to make things simple, so Roan's final modifier is +3, which makes the result an 11 - and that is still almost the best possible result. With Hopeful Hearts and Clear Purpose: each member of the company counts as Inspired until the first time they fail a roll during this journey. Id call no risk a good thing lol but yeah wouldn't make for a very epic quest would it? I suppose you could make the argument that the known lands ability doubles the proficiency bonus which would be handy in more dangerous terrain but im more than happy with your ruling. Inspired does sound like a handy thing to have if we about to encounter shadows. Whats the benefit of being inspired?

You can use Inspiration to gain Advantage for a roll, meaning you roll twice and keep the better one.

The plan is that everyone can describe the first part of the journey according to post #85 in this thread, and have a talk with each other, but it's not compulsory. When you are done, please state it here so that we don't wait in vain.
And, in advance, I'd like everyone to make a DC14 Wis check for the first (and only) journey encounter. |

As we are all inspired, can i assume that we can all make that Wis Check at advantage?
Am i reading that right. we count as inspired until the first time we fail a check? not just on the next roll but every roll until we fail (with advantage), that could be along time coming with advantage on the rolls Last edited by Dylan Scott; Dec 12th, 2022 at 06:58 PM. |

I feel like it's more of a choice to roll with inspiration.
