Initiation raises your racial maximum for magic by its grade.
You still have to buy up your magic attribute to the maximum.

For example, an orc mage with 5 essence and 4 magic initiates to grade 1. The orc mage still has 4 magic, but he can now raise it though karma to 6 (5 maximum from essence loss + 1 from grade).

There is technically no limit on the number of times you can initiate, it just becomes increasingly more expensive to do so. And your initiation grade can be raised higher than your current magic rating.

The alpha/beta/deltaware are grades of cyberware. Higher grade, higher cost, lower essence.

You subscribe your dones to your PAN (Personal Area Network). Your commlink is the centre of your PAN not your control rig. Your limited to a number of subscriptions equal to twice your commlinks System rating. See accessing nodes in the Wireless World chapter.

Vehicle mounts are extra addons. Vehicles may be equipped with a number of weapon mounts equal to their Body ÷ 3 (round down). Weapon mounts may hold any LMG or smaller-sized weapon and 250 rounds of ammo. The drones listed come with one already built in.

For character generation purposes the Letter doesn't matter. You are limited to rating 6 gear with a maximum availability of 12. So yeah, you can buy hardpoints. The letter does refers to its legality. F means it can never be legally owned. Even buying a fake licence for it is pretty pointless. Basically don't get caught with it in your possession. An R rating means its restricted. Generally speaking you'll want a fake SIN with a fake license for such gear.

The difference between the fact the drone has R and the mounts F? Bad editing?

Also, ended up with only 1BP in gear. Spent all 5000¥. Dunno what else I'd spend it on but what I did. Maybe a better fake SIN? (Rating 2 won't get me very far).

Okay thank you Pandaemonic. Two more questions for now: Rating is grayed out under the Cyberware tab. I added gear to pick the Transys Avalon, for example, and I see that the capacity went down on the commlink but Rating is still greyed out. How do I increase it in Chummer?

Also for fetish summoning material, is the availability cumulative? So having 10 on hand would be 20 Availability? At what point does it become forbidden? I assume you buy the materials but wait for the game to start to do your binding checks, right?

@Ermine Haha that's fine, I'm sure there may be situations where you controlling my drones could be handy.

I bet there's a bunch you could spend on, armor, Foci, programs? Not sure about how threading and all that changes a technomancer, but you don't need to buy a deck, programs or agents to hack?

Technomancers get complex forms (mental programs), can thread any they don't have (or improve the ones they do), and have a living persona that acts as a commlink and simsense module. For rigging, I'm pretty sure there are options for it in Unwired, but I'm not using that.. So no need to buy any of that. (And foci are explicitly an awakened thing, not a technomancer thing). And I bought armor. It's included in that 5000, along with a katana, just in case. (Also, my sprites are going to be weak AF for a while. Most of the dice pool for creating them comes from resonance, with only 2 ranks of compiling)

Finally: Yeah, I'll be the face, too. The face who neglected to spend points on contacts.

The rating is greyed out because the rating is fixed for the model commlink you have chosen. For electronic gear the rating for most gear is a simplified version of its matrix attributes (Response, Signal, System and Firewall). For commlinks these are specific values. A Transys Avalon has a Response and Signal of 4. This is the 'hardware'. you then buy the Persona Programs (software) for your System and Firewall ratings. This is mostly in the Wireless World chapter and not the gear one. Start with Networking>Matrix Attributes

In chummer if you want to stray outside the models you want a custom built commlink.
Click the drop down of the 'Add Gear' button. Add Accessory. Select various commlink upgrades.

I'm assuming your talking about Spirit Binging Materials.
No, its based on the force of the spirit you are summoning. Materials for a ritual to bind a force 6 spirit would cost 3,000¥ and have an availability of 12.
Interestingly it seems they are quite legal. Buying in bulk wouldn't change this.

Yeah being a face is cool, but my hands are absolutely full trying to fit in all the skills and attributes I want to be good at in order to be a rigger and an assensing summoner. Out of curiosity, how much do one of you with experience think I can get away with being really good at assensing but not having astral combat?

I'm unclear on what all I'd need to invest in to be good at astral combat. Just the skill and buying a focus, or are melee skills needed too? I know mental stats take over phsyical ones.

@Silver, I was looking to get some shock gloves installed into my hands, in the book, it doesn't show and installed blades/gloves/ w/e and it suggests I go look at this OTHER book. so I was wondering If I can go shopping for mods

I know that despite being a face, I have no contacts. Mouse is charismatic AF, but kind of new to the area, so doesn't have anyone she can rely on yet. Unless each member of each team knows each other, that is.

Also, I don't THINK I got an answer on if we will have a chance to Initiate/Submerge. I hope we do. I want Mouse to want to push her hacking limits. Especially if options from Unwired are allowed (and I hope they are because the other options are kinda sadly limited).

It is in the main book. Shock Hand under Cyber Melee Weapons. It is 0.25 essence to install on its own or takes up 3 capacity of a cyberlimb. Costs 1,000¥ with an availability of 8R.

In other editions you get a number of free contact points based on your charisma. Charisma x3 in 5th. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case in 4th.
