Esteemed DMs! Do we have precise dates for the game's start and stop period?

YES! You can start any day from July 9 to July 22.

You can start any day you like, but the later you start the less time you have to finish.

The GMs will have access to a GM only thread.

On that thread, at 12:00AM July 9, GMT-4, I will post the starting scenarios for all three genres, along with the tables that GMs need to roll on every 12 posts.

The starting scenarios will include:

1. Opening scene
2. Character descriptions
3. Suggestions for two more settings
4. Suggestions for plot outcomes

I don't know how this is going to be for those of you who are running once as GM and then again as player, but I'm sure you'll work it out!

Yes, I think that's a good idea. Filly and I were talking about that today... she was thinking maybe separate, spoilered posts for each genre? And then if you're DMing fantasy, you can just not look at the steampunk and scifi, and then play one of those. As long as you don't play the same genre you DMed, before you DM it, it should still be surprising! Although the genres are essentially reskins, I will churn it enough that it will have some elements of unpredictability.

Me too! I mean, it might end up being a big fiery confusing mess but it will be a glorious, unapologetic mess. I'm very curious to find out what happens, both on an in-game and out-of-game level. The pacing challenge, as a DM, has me extremely interested. Like, can it be meted out exactly to end with 48 posts? Or will there really be 44, and four posts of post-adventure beers? Or will there need to be 53? I just don't know.

As an in-person DM I love to try and finesse timing. I think this is from my years doing D&D in the classroom, where you have a hard time-stop. So I love it if I can wrap the session, or lay out the cliff hanger, at exactly the agreed-upon stopping time. I'm very curious whether this works in PbP too. Looking forward to finding out!

How much more glorious can you get than an intergalactic medieval submersible? I'd call that unapologetic genre-mashing to begin with, so there's only room to grow from there!

I'm curious about the 48-post limit (which I assume is in-game posts, since we're already chatting in OOC). Are we going to be locked out at 48? Do we get to finish the 53 necessary posts and then speculate how we could've done it in five fewer posts? I'm stoked to see how this works, and I've never GMed in person, so I don't have the experience to know what it's like.

I think we need a prize for the most blatant editors-of-old-posts-to-stay-within-48. But yes, timing will ve interesting.
