The Kitchen
Since its the new week, I'll let folks post in as they're able and discuss where to go and what to do. It seems like the plan is to hit up Lake Kagamihara to do some fishing and maybe hunt down some Snowberries, so if thats the case, you can all meet up before you leave town, along the way, or when you get there. Or you can stay split up! Completely up to you. I'm not going to put any barriers between the group finding each other whenever they so desire to. Please let me know if you want to make any more Both the Foraging kind, as well as any others!preparations! You could still see about getting a map if you're concerned about navigation, or if you're planning on having dinner out there, some additional ingredients might be a good idea. Otherwise, we'll need to perform https://www.rpgcrossing.com/showthread.php?t=226444Travel checks. The actual Travel check to get to Lake Kagamihara is TN 6 since you'll be traveling through lightly populated and green vales. Establishing a camp, if you choose to do so, on the other hand, will be done in the woods itself, and so the TN is 8. Meanwhile, you'll also need to decide which Environ specifically you want to travel to first and (probably) establish a base camp. Your choices are: 🌸 The Lodge Area is closest to town, within a mile of travel distance, and is where you would rent boats, buy firewood, visit the shop and obtain information about the area. Most people intent on going to the lake for leisure activity would start here. And of course, if you have any other alternative thought, questions or comments, let me know here or on Discord! Always happy to help~ |

It sounds like if we want to get the snowberries for Elem, the Twinspring Grove is the place to go, which doesn't really work for the people who want to go fishing (although it sounds like there's some interest in the temple among that group). Do we want to (remain) split up or hit the different areas sequentially? Since the Grove is adjacent to the Southern Lakeshore, how easy would it be for fishers to join a camp there and then travel to the shore to do their fishing?
Rahat has Cartographer's Tools (and proficiency), so if we can get out hands on a map, that will help our travel checks. Maybe Khrysa can pick up some ingredients so we have something to eat while we get a base camp established? Rahat's already maxed out on her Karma, so there's not much reason to do any preparations for this expedition apart from that. (I'm thinking out loud here, in case I'm off in my understanding of how this works)

The temple seems to have the most going on, so I would argue for the group to get back together before we start exploring there. Definitely open to other thoughts, but imo it's a little early to break into smaller groups for a long period.
Maybe Khrysa's group can gather Snowberries while Goop's group (hahaha goop's group) can do some fishing, and then meet back up for temple shortly?

Just to clarify, but according to the rumor that Kianna mentioned, Snowberries are said to grow at the base of a statue in the abandoned temple.
That being said, you'll probably want to take time to scout out the grove area to find the temple in the first place, so if you want two teams, that would be a good time for the other group to do some fishing. And then you can all group up and delve the temple once its been found and you're all ready Incidentally, yes, Rahat is good on Karma (though I think I'm going to let you keep that +2 that I gave in addition to the roll just because it makes sense, so you'll have 5, not 3), but Goop still only has 1, so she can still benefit from Preparations if you want to make them.

Going to the lake/grove together before possibly splitting up to different tasks sounds good to me!

Hiya! Just want to make sure I'm not holding us up. Briar, are you waiting for us (aka the fishing crew) to post before we move into a new area?

Yes, though not specifically. I was waiting to see if you all wanted to do any preparations before moving over, but if everyone is good with their current situation, I can move things along!

Just a reiteration from my message on Discord, but my plan is to go ahead and write up a post for the group making their way to the Lake. You're welcome to go straight there if your preparations are already done, or if you still have things you want to do in town, you can do that and then you can transition over.
Whenever you do decide to head to the lake, though, each member of the party will need to make a Travel check on the way, so you can include that in your next post, OR you can go ahead and roll it now and I'll just include the result in my narrative. I'm going to assume based on the chatter that you all intend to hit up the Southern Lakeshore, so that will be your 'base camp', then explore out from there. Sound right?

FYI, for my Turquoise players who just had to make Travel checks in the other game, this is D&D, not Ryuutama! Its just 2d6, not STR+DEX. The Travel system I made for this game was indeed inspired by the Ryuutama journey rules, so it is similar, but it is indeed different.
Just wanted to clarify that since SOMEONE already got confused xP

So we just roll 2d6 with no modifiers?

Rahat has Cartography Tools, so anyone traveling with her gets a +2, which was why I asked the group if they were meeting up before or after they head to the lake.
But you rolled over a 2 so you're good either way

Thinking ahead, it seems to me that it would be useful for us to set up a camp, since that will help the cultivators get some Community going. It's also not as though we have a compelling reason to go back to town every night with the lack of work and all.
If I'm reading the harvesting rules correctly, Rahat can spend Karma to uncover resources as well as harvest them, so she may spend a bit once we arrive just to taper down the surfeit she currently has. Gathering some wild edibles for Khrysa to cook or unlocking an uncommon resource both seem like good options to pursue before she starts exploring the grove environ.

Camp sounds like a wonderful idea! How many of those action options can we each take for our first story post?
