I've been on hiatus from RPGx for over a year, and therefore all the games I was in seem to have fizzled out-- I wouldn't doubt my own part in that but IRL can be... Unforgiving.

At any rate, I'm looking to jump back in and your game looks fantastic. If nothing else it will let me stretch my character building muscles. I just wanted to let you know that I'm cooking something up, and that it'll like be coming in just under the wire. Anyway, thanks for all your hard work already!

Application Character Name: Rance Blonkriss Class: I intend to reskin the barbarian features as vampiric ones, so rage will be bloodlust, etc.Barbarian (Path of the Beast) Species: Human Affliction: Vampyr Background: Reskinned HermitApprentice Herbalist Alignment: Lawful Good Personality Traits: Trait 1: I care deeply what people think of me and constantly worry that I may offend them. Trait 2: I prefer a mossy bed and the open sky to all of the trappings of the city. Ideal: Understanding. If we could just see things from other points of view, perhaps we could all get along. Bond: I will find the star-shaped mushrooms and unravel their secrets. Flaw 1: I thought I would be able to control the bloodlust, but I was wrong. Flaw 2: My words doesn't mean what I wants them to mean. Description: A tall and rangy young man with short sandy hair and a perpetual frown, Rance has not taken to the vampiric life easily. His normally placid and amiable nature is at odds with the predatory bloodlust which overtakes him all too regularly. Backstory: Apprenticed to Master Herbalist Onwar Harcrush from a young age, Rance never spent a lot of time among city folk, instead ranging around seeking out ingredients and counting stars. All of that came to a screeching halt when the Monstrum Virus appeared, and suddenly the only safe place for good folks was behind stout city walls. His master went to work immediately trying to find a cure for the plague, and was soon questioning every one of the steady stream of incoming refugees arriving in the city. He found that the ones who had survived on the road for the longest all came from the same direction, through the Marsh of Chelimber. After much painstaking research he found that all of them had encountered I realise that this is probably at odds with what you have planned, Gaijin, but for all Rance or I know this could be a complete dead-end. I'm not trying to usurp the adventure and am fine with it turning out to be nothing. :-)star-shaped mushrooms on their travels, and he theorised that they had somehow conferred a resistance to the plague on these lucky travellers. Since he had recently developed a canker and had very little time left, he embarked on a daring expedition to track down these mushrooms and return some samples to New Evereska where they could be safely studied. Unfortunately he never returned. Rance was determined to carry on his master's work, but knew he could not go out as he was. He sought out a vampyr and convinced the monster to turn him, sure that he would through sheer grit repress the worst of the curse. Alas, as with so many young men, Rance may have overestimated his own strength. The hunger burns in his gut constantly, pushing the once gentle boy to do horrific things.

So, this is my completed application (barring any comments, suggestions or necessary corrections from @Gaijin). I willfully admit that my character inspiration came from Mirasiah's wonderful application. Thanks for the consideration! ☄️

Application Character Name: Heilan "Hoof" Taursus Class: Barbarian (Eventually Path of the Beast, TCE) Species: Half-Elf Affliction: Lycan (Bull) Background: Criminal (Enforcer) (Permission to make skill proficiencies Athletics/Intimidation -- like soldier --instead of Deception/Stealth?) Starting Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Physical Appearance: Just about the only things that give away Hoof's mixed heritage are his slightly pointed ears, and piercing green eyes. Other than that, he's almost completely human in nature. Large and muscular (even for a human) Hoof's 6'6", 240 pounds frame is massive for a Half-Elf. His imposing stature and his usually glowering demeanor make him incredibly difficult to miss in almost any setting. Personality:   Literally and Figuratively Unsurprisingly, Hoof would most commonly be described as 'Bull Headed' -- sometimes literally. This can be both a benefit and a drawback. He's unlikely to give up in the face of daunting odds, but he's also unlikely to give in to logic, reason or any other compelling argument even if he's wrong. He also doesn't tend to like other people very much; he's slow to trust others, regularly assuming that whether they're reserved themselves or outwardly friendly that they must be hiding something. He's gruff, rude, and sometimes even crass. However, once you've broken through his tough hide and become what he considers to be a friend, he can be fiercely loyal. He mostly believes in individuality -- a person's right to choose their own path, but also in personal responsibility -- and absolutely abhors imprisonment, indentured servitude and slavery. He's most closely affiliated with his clan, a group of Bull Lycans and Minotaurs who have banded together to stand against the usual persecution directed towards their kind. Hoof would rather die than let them down. But sometimes taking care of one's people means separating yourself from them, being independent and taking on the world on one's own. For better or for worse, Hoof believes plans are irrelevant, greater machinations are irrelevant, the world is irrelevant; charge ahead, get things done and bash everything and everyone who stands in your way. Backstory:   Taking the Bull by the horns Why do they call him 'Hoof' you ask? Well, sit down, but me an ale and I'll tell you. It's all about noises. Firstly, because it's the sound of the wind leaving your lungs as he hits you in the solar-plexus. Secondly, it's the grunt he gives as he hefts your sorry backside into the air. And lastly, it's the thumping sound you make as your body hits something hard -- usually a wall or the floor-- 30 feet away after he tosses you as hard as he can. So please, don't ever insinuate that it's because he's as dumb as an ox. While it might be true... Well, don't say I didn't warn you. Oh! You actually want to know where he comes from!? Well, that's not very well known. He's not a particularly chatty guy, even once you get past the gruff exterior. But what we have been able to put together is that his father was an Elf and his mother was a lycan cow. No that's not an insult! She was actually a cow! Anyhow, I've heard that his mother died when he was young and he was brought up by the clan. He's always been big and becoming an enforcer for the clan seemed like the natural way to put his abilities to use. Then of course once the virus came and all the regular folk started to need the help and protection of the lycan-kind, well, the clan chief decided to loan Hoof out like a mercenary. I can't imagine he enjoys it too much -- he never did like being used like a beast of burden. But point the big lad at a problem and say 'For the good of the Clan' and ain't nothing or no one going to get in his way. Not and survive very long anyhow.

Character Name: Malaric Wunderfoot, "Mack" Class: Rogue (Soulknife) Species: Halfling Affliction: Harrowed Background: Urchin Alignment: Chaotic Good Personality Traits: Trait 1: The best way to get me to do something is to tell me I can't do it. Trait 2: People say I'm optimistic, but that's usually because I see life as one big joke. Ideal: Adaptation. I sincerely believe that the virus mutating will be a good thing, one way or another. Bond: Outcasts stick together. I owe my life to people who are like me, surviving in the gutters of civilized society. Flaw: I feel little to no empathy to the sheltered cowards who hide from the plague, especially those in positions of power. Description: All wrapped up in his dingy yellow rain jacket, Mack looks little more than a three-foot tall boy urchin with a warm, nonchalant grin on his inky face. The smile usually distracts from the sunken, sad eyes that glowed purple in the darkness. His skin is covered by blackened scars - signs of his terminal condition - but he had those disguised by covering them with tattoos of mythical creatures and various fascinating and fantastic flora. Mack has been known to be friendly, even motherly at times, to those afflicted by the Monstrum. On the other hand, others have observed and knew better than to comment on the hin's coldness and apathy towards the general populace, most notably figures of authority. Backstory:   Disease can spread, like sewage from a busted pipe, in a ripe old place like the Hin's Haven. Affectionately called by its occupants as the 'Hellhole' - though not in the hearing of Old Trench, the halfanage's Director - hygiene was certainly not a priority and so the Monstrum Virus wreaked havoc on the young hin boys and girls when it encroached upon the borders of its parent hamlet of Zelbross. Mack had already been a resilient boy naturally, but he didn't realize just how much until he saw his close friends turning literally inside-out as they expired. When Old Trench's face became a writhing mass of tentacles and started screaming and coming for the ailing children, Mack decided that was the perfect time to age out. The mayor did nothing of course, aside from sending a few guards and having the building burnt down, deeming it a quarantine zone. Some managed to escape the Haven with Mack, but not many. That was just the start, though. Mack did odd jobs to survive - forager, small-time bounty hunter, militia duty, caravan escort - but he could see that the virus was spreading in his town. He was also discovering that the disease seemed to affect him differently. His eyes changed color. His mind... expanded, somehow. He found he was able to manipulate his thoughts into some tangible form of light, or energy, or something. At the same time, the deep black scars started spreading in his dermis; the color of soot and shadow. When it covered almost a third of his limbs, he learned the art of ink. Months later, Mack would be approached by the New Evereska Sanctuary. He would also soon discover the existence of the beastmen and the nightwalkers. Initially he found himself shaken by their deviant natures, but he had sufficient grasp of his own talents by then not to quaver and immediately act in hostility. Mack learned that though they looked and thought differently, they had much in common. Although he accepted their offered employment, Mack has some reservations about the Sanctuary and their motives, however. He hadn't met any of their leaders. Were they people like him? Were they also vampyr, or lycans? Or were they just the same corrupt greedy b**tards who want to cower in their posh mansions and return to how life was before? Mack wouldn't care for that; oh no. Not by a long shot. ☄️
