Houserules and Character Creation

Any houserules, GM whims, or unusual requests will be placed here.

Character Creation
While you do not currently have a class, you all need to roll your stats and choose two traits you feel reflect your PC, as well as everything you get for race. You also will have your skill points from your int mod, so if you have a +3 Int mod, you get +3 skill points!

Languages we will be doing a bit differently. You may learn only the racial language of your choice, and perhaps one other I will assign based on your background as we move along. Your languages able to be learned will, for now, be considered as slots to be used later.

For your attributes! Please roll 4d6, drop the lowest- reroll all ones. If you get sixes, reroll one six. If you get a six again, roll that six until it stops showing up sixes.

Your total for any attribute, after bonuses, may not go above 30.

Make all rolls in the mechanics thread, with a link to your Character post in the Characters thread.

Houserules

The only one I have at this time outside of character creation concerns wizards. They may cast spells from their spellbooks, though the time increment goes up three steps. Thus, a standard action spell would go from a standard to a full round, then to a minute, then to ten minutes. This requires a wizard to be reading from the spellbook uninterrupted the entire time. You will take massive penalties on any concentration checks.


People may feel free to pray to gods, try and summon demons... whatever you think your character might do, go ahead and do. Every action will have consequences. If I don't like a rule dealing with an action I will change or abolish it, and if there isn't a rule about one then I will go ahead and make one.

We will not be using hero points- we're using something more along the lines of the stunt system from Exalted, if any of you have played that.

The more epic your post and roleplay, the better your results. I will give slight boosts to rolls based on good roleplay- either a +1, +2, or +3 to the roll result- if you get a +3, you may get something else nifty- I haven't decided yet. Something like a spell back, or a free hit die back, or something.

So if we roll sixes, we get to keep adding sixes until we max out at 30? Or can we not have 18? I am confused.

Let's say I roll 4d6, and get a 1, two sixes, and a three. I reroll the one and get a six. Dropping the lowest- a three- I get to go ahead and reroll one six, to add to my total of 18.

I get another six.

I roll again, and get another 6.

That's 30. I cannot go any higher.

So yes, if you have a six out of your original set, you may keep rolling that six until it is no longer a six, adding whatever the total is to your score. Or until you hit 30.

When you say "After Bonuses" do you mean, only those bonuses provided by the dice, or those provided by race as well?
