The Rise of the Runelords
"The Runelords of Thassilon", by Brodert Quink "Historians" are dismissive of my claims. Let them do so at their own peril: for when I am proven correct, we will all suffer for it.
The Runelords were no fools. They were conniving, masters of their time; even in the face of great Azlant, they were crafters of their own destinies, of every school of magic, of every form of divination. And I have no doubt, in my rudimentary knowledge of magic and scrying, that they saw the demise of their world coming. They saw the Starstone's fall and the rise of the Age of Darkness: would they not work to preserve themselves? It is my belief that the most powerful of these Runelords sought ways to preserve themselves against the collapse of Thassilon and of their age, and di the same with their greatest servants. Have the ages been kind to these plans? I cannot say. But in all likelihood, I know in my heart of hearts that the time is coming where we will know that answer: where Thassilon will return, in kind, to a world it hardly recognizes to craft a world in their own image, once again. But Azlant will not stand in their way. There is no power left on Golarion that can stop the rise of the Runelords.
And if we do not stand against them, united and together, we will all fall back into an age of sin and barbarity. And I, for one, will not stand idly by. I will stand against the Runelords.
Who will stand with me?
