A question came up that I think may interest everyone...
Question
Macross, if you don't want me to describe the results of my attacks then just let me know. Since you've posted most enemy AC values, I've been indicating whether an attack hits or misses.

Answer:
No worries ... this is exactly why I post the values. For your enjoyment, feel free to look at my posted stats, evaluate the result and describe it in your own words. Obviously, this won't work for an NPC I don't give you the stats for (or have ??? in the blank). Note as we progress to other battles, some stats are directly from the Bestiary while others might be slightly adjusted. Use my posted stats, please.

I like to give the players the freedom to use their imagination and describe how they slaughter the enemy or miserably fail (or anything in between). Some NPCs I still keep stats secret, especially if they buff themselves or are key to the encounter. I have found this adds some degree of tension and suspense yet allows the player to be more immersive and descriptive and not always waiting on a post from me.

I welcome feedback though.

Congrats! Blue and Silver Teams both cleared the first encounter with no casualties! Nice job!

You may feel free to brag about your awesomeness, just don't spill plot points because the other team may not have discovered them. But if you wanna share how utterly epic your character smacked a thug, that's perfectly acceptable. (So is bragging about miserable failure too, if desired, lol).

Dedication to a thug somehere out there... click me

I really want to brag about how awesomely my Orc was stabbed, twice I may add, by crazy random bandits. I mean, heh, I bet you poozers in Silver Team weren't that awesome.

Thank God for being the healer in the party.

So we have two party healers. Wanna fight about it?

Though, it's always strange for a person with heal spells to start rubbing themselves up and speaking funny languages. But then, that's your average music video.

Mind if I ask what time zone are you in Macross? Tomorrow would be Tuesday night for me.

Concerning Taking 10 or 20...

Everyone,

There have been some times when some folks have chosen to take 10 or 20 in certain situations instead of rolling the 1d20. Please review the rules below. For things like Diplomacy checks, Performance checks, etc, taking 10 is fine assuming you are trying to be "your average self" and are not in a rush or under duress. Taking 20 in these situations assumes failures before getting the 20, which may not be what you actually intend. Please let me know if you have questions.

Taking 10 and Taking 20

A skill check represents an attempt to accomplish some goal, usually while under some sort of time pressure or distraction. Sometimes, though, a character can use a skill under more favorable conditions, increasing the odds of success.

Taking 10: When your character is not in immediate danger or distracted, you may choose to take 10. Instead of rolling 1d20 for the skill check, calculate your result as if you had rolled a 10. For many routine tasks, taking 10 makes them automatically successful. Distractions or threats (such as combat) make it impossible for a character to take 10. In most cases, taking 10 is purely a safety measure—you know (or expect) that an average roll will succeed but fear that a poor roll might fail, so you elect to settle for the average roll (a 10). Taking 10 is especially useful in situations where a particularly high roll wouldn't help.

Taking 20: When you have plenty of time, you are faced with no threats or distractions, and the skill being attempted carries no penalties for failure, you can take 20. In other words, if you a d20 roll enough times, eventually you will get a 20. Instead of rolling 1d20 for the skill check, just calculate your result as if you had rolled a 20.

Taking 20 means you are trying until you get it right, and it assumes that you fail many times before succeeding. Taking 20 takes 20 times as long as making a single check would take (usually 2 minutes for a skill that takes 1 round or less to perform).

Since taking 20 assumes that your character will fail many times before succeeding, your character would automatically incur any penalties for failure before he or she could complete the task (hence why it is generally not allowed with skills that carry such penalties). Common “take 20” skills include Disable Device (when used to open locks), Escape Artist, and Perception (when attempting to find traps).

Ability Checks and Caster Level Checks: The normal take 10 and take 20 rules apply for ability checks. Neither rule applies to concentration checks or caster level checks.

I will provide meaningful updates to both Blue and Silver Teams this afternoon after I return from work. You may continue to post, if you wish.

I will be a little slow updating this weekend ... I normally get the weekends off, but this time I have to work through the whole weekend. I still should be able to put together something meaningful by tomorrow sometime.

Sorry for the delay of game ... hopefully no one here is affected by the nasty storm along the east coast.
