It's fiiiiine, it's a base perception check, with a lower success chance. Don't sweat it.

@Amarga
Just a small thing. Did you mean to say the north of Britain? Scotland is a seperate land from England, though of course both of us are in the union of Great Britain.

I meant great Britain, sensitive topic I know but Sullivan is the type to cut off the great part when referring to a land mass

Great way to offend basically everyone in Scotland, given the history. Pretty sure there was an American pop singer on tour a few years ago who announced to a packed crowd that Edinburgh was the craziest place in England. It did not go well for her.

YUP, don't worry Sullivan will probably have enough sense to use the correct terminology when talking to people.

Keep in mind, that the mention was as part of narration for the post. I personally adhere to a strong IC/OOC separation, so I don't tend to let things stated in IC posts bother me in any way OOC (so long as they aren't site rule breaks). Maybe we can collectively share similar sentiments?

Also, I can promise you, I will do my best to represent Monaco how I can... but I am not European, French or Italian, so I'm going to offend somebody! If we're worried about that already, we're in trouble.

That said, introductions are looking good, keen to see the other characters enter, too!

I feel like a real rookie for asking this but how do you do that neat dice roll as a line in a post thing where it appears when you hover the cursor over it?

This 100%. I sometimes forget that written posts aren't particularly good at conveying tone or intention. Apologies if it seemed as though I was being critical. A typo is a typo and nothing to worry about. It was just the fact that Scots can be prickly over being called English by foreigners that made it funny. Kind of like how any typo in the word 'public' invariably involves forgetting the L rather than any of the other letters. No harm or offence meant.

Not a rookie move at all, BBcode is tricky for everyone and there's always a trick you don't know. In this case it's putting the DICE tags within the TT tags. So Percie's earlier roll looked like this:

[TT="cast an eye over the office and its surroundings"][dice="PER 8, DF 5 = Success Chance 40"]1d100 = 1940470419 [/dice][/TT]

If you press the TT button it will ask for what you want to be the visible text. Then in between the TT tags you put what you want to appear when you mouseover which can be text if it's just normal details but can be dice in this case or even images as Humble Hero did in the original ad.

Bonus tip! If you want to know how someone else did something in one of their posts, pressing the QUOTE button at the foot of their post will bring it up in a new window as a quote and it will be in code form so you can see how they did it.

Hope that helps

EDIT: see what I mean about BBcode being tricky. I can't even give a roll as an example without it thinking I'm cheating somehow! Just ignore everything between '1d100' and '[/dice]' in that line of code.
Warning: rolls have been deleted from this post.

Thanks for the assist in explaining the above, Barrigan!

Also, great posts so far, gang. Really enjoying the camaraderie!

Additionally, regarding Colonel Harding's file, you will notice there's redacted sections... it could be possible those sections are revealed, with a which will reveal information for the groupsuccessful Cryptography roll. Or maybe it's worth waiting, to see if more is revealed?

How much do you want to know? Is it worth the risk of failing with file access?

Decisions, decisions.

Cryptography isn't exactly Percie's strong suit so I might leave that to those with more expertise.

My vote though is not to go hacking internal files for information MI6 doesn't want us to have unless there's a good reason. If we thought he was a mole or something then we could maybe justify it but if we're caught and end up tied to a chair being interrogated then "well it was redacted and I was curious but I'm definitely loyal I swear," probably isn't going to cut it

I don't doubt our resident hacker could give it a go but ad already said there is no real reason to. There is no gain for us at this point and M and the Colonel would be less than pleased.
