There's more than one of them
As the giants raised their ugly heads, Andri had just finished securing Button to the cart, next to Pyrrha's horse. At least, she hoped so, as the blood mage absentmindedly dodged another attempt from her spirited mare to take a bite out of her rider, to which the short human merely reacted with an affectionate pat.

Without major hurry, she drew the wicked looking two-pronged sword she carried around with her in her left hand, and used it to slice her right, drawing several droplets of red blood. While continuing to walk, Andri scattered scarlet drops of blood around her with a vicious grin. Where these drops hit the ground, a mist-like figure rose, slowly solidifying into an exact copy of the grinning magus. The images, 6 in total, fell into step with Andri as she ended up standing in front of Pyrrha.

All of the images raised their blade, pointing at the male giant in front of them. "Come on, little guy", she challenged it. All of the Andris did this at the same time, making it impossible to tell who the real one was. "I had bigger ones in my bed than you." She knew the giants didn't understand a word of what she was saying, but Andri didn't care. She was here to make money, and to have fun, and at least one of these things was going to happen right now.

Jozin shouted "Stick to the plan!" as he rushed through the cloud of dirt kicked up by the boulder, charging at the nearer giant. As he closed the gap, leading with an outstretched hand, he suddenly spun around and struck with the blade concealed by his profile. He felt the jarring impact but the immensely thick skin failed to give under his blade.

Seeing that her words of encouragement taking hold, the midwife gave silent thanks that others were feeling better about the work they had cut out for them. Miriam began to make her way forward, but was undecided on which way to go. After all, its not often that a woman who brings newborns into the world would challenge a troll to a fight.

Oh dear, this is not what I had hoped would be done. I don't know if I can avoid the situation. Miriam thought as she moved forward, gripping her knife tightly as she moved between the two foes.

The Heat of CombatThe battle was now in full swing, the glittering Aasamir and the male giants rushed together both landing a series of blows against each other. The Giant ended up getting punched in the eye by the smaller humanoid and his nose bleed fiercely. Unfortunately she was only able to land those blows when the giant was recovering from swinging the mighty tree of a club at her and hitting her solidly. She coughed a small spurt of blood from the force of it, but carried on.

Beaufort fared better against the female giant, as well as Jozin, as Jozin skipped out of the way from the swings of her club and Beaufort fumbled with his revolver at first and then put a round center mass in the creature causing her to runt and blood to pour freely from the new wound.

SummaryGiants have two club attacks, both connected with Pyrrah and both missed Jozin. The damage from Beaufort and Pyrriah's attacks have already been recorded on the google doc. Good luck everyone

Doing what she's best atAs the giant's club connected with the pretty flame-headed girl in front of her not once, but twice, Andri can't help but wince in sympathy, though she quickly turned this into a mocking sneer. There was a reputation to uphold, after all, and most of it deserved.

"Hey firefly, get behind me!", the blood magus shouted - all seven of them - at Pyrrha over the giants' roars as she nimbly set up a flanking opportunity for Miriam or whoever wanted to exploit the giant's distraction. Raising her blade, Andri spending one point of her arcane pool, making the giant pay the blood prize, to give her blade +1 for 1 minutemumbled a minor incantation, and some of the giant's blood was drawn from his nose, soaked up in the wicked two-bladed sword she wielded. Something else guided her blade, too, a lightness of the spirit Andri discarded as the joy of making the oversized giant bleed.

The giants' blood trailed after the seven blades as all of the mirror-Andris spun around with only a minor delay and hitting a 25caught the big creature's unguarded side, for 9 points of damageleaving a freshly bleeding wound from the one blade of hers that was the real one.

As the magus readied herself for the counter-attack, she laughed. These brutes thought they are a match for her? She would teach them a lesson in blood, as she had taught so many before. She would never be prey again, she would never again be the one hunted, no matter how big her enemies. In battle, the only size that mattered was ego, and Andri's ego was easily a match for any giant's.

Raphael moved up again, as the positioning of the others meant the targets wouldn't be coming any closer into range than they already were. He was closer to what seemed to be the female giant (though who really could tell with such base creatures?) but the man with the sword seemed to want to fight it alone. Fair enough, if foolish. He turned and aimed for the other, wincing as the pretty lady in the bright dress took a good couple of whacks. For a brief moment, he felt a twinge of something, an urge to move up and shield her, but he pushed the notion away. His own survival was more important than hers, and he didn't know how much more damage his heart could endure Normally having so many friendlies around the target would make for a difficult shot, but when the target was as large as this, it was fairly easy to aim for the head with little threat to his allies. He didn't bother mouthing off- there was hardly a suitable audience anyway. Instead, he again steadied his aim on his arm again, reaching once more for the magic to imbue it with that little bit of extra kick, even as the atmosphere leeched away more of his fluids in response.

As the giant swings it's clubs down at Jozin he easily sidesteps them, landing a glancing slash at each of the giant's hands as he does so. As it roars in pain he quickly steps behind it's club, using the creature's own weapon to hide his approach, and ends the maneuver with a blade opening a harsh gash in it's abdomen.

Moving into a better position to avoid hitting her companions, Miriam pulled her arm back. I hope this will do some good, because they look like they have some tough skin. Flipping her arm forward, the blade flipped end over end, with the edge of the blade hitting the creature in the back. To the woman's dismay, she watched as it bounced off and tumbled to the floor.

"Kurudi" Miriam said sharply, holding out her empty hand. Moments later, the dagger disappeared from the ground and was being grasped by the hilt in the midwife's palm. "I hope the others are doing better behind me." she grumbled to herself, looking for another opening in the large foe's tough skin.

The Ground ThunderedThe male giant enraged by the woman flailing at him, pumling him with her leathal fists brought his heavy club down on her, but not before she could land a few more well placed blows. The angry and bleeding giant threw his full weight into his swings, the first was upward, knocking the wind out of Pyhrra and her on to her back, the second was downward smashing her body. As the club came back up, Pyhrra's body lay lifeless and limp, joints bent unnatural angles. There was no possible recovery from these wounds, her flames were extinguished.

On the other side of the battlefield Beaufort let off two more rounds are he continued his slow progress toward the female that would see his expedition challenged so early in their journey. One of the bullets found it's target and in his haste he let the other throw his aim high and unbelievably missed the giant entirely. Brunthus dismounted from his steed and joined the fray, burying his axe in the leg of the giant and letting out a cackle of excitement. The female was not amused and lashed out at Jozin and managed to catch the spry man off guard, her greatclub smashing heavily into his right side, but the result was only 11 Damagea few bruises and torn skin.

The price of blood magic
The Gods were dead, and long forgotten. Andri felt this was unfair, for she could imagine a heartfelt blasphemous curse was appropriate in such a situation. She made do with what she could, though, and an impressive polyglot stream of thoroughly foul and inventive language washed over the giant next to her.

There were more words she had for the idiot mayfly. She had told her to get behind her, but the jam-headed phoenix wannabe needed to prove her mettle. All she had proved was the colour of her brains.

The unlikely and angry eulogy was fuelled by a cold rage. Andri and her mirror images kept spinning and dancing, weaving arcane gestures with her off-hand and drawing complex patterns with her twin-bladed sword in search of the giants' weakness.

A tiny amount of blood trickled from one of the giant's many wounds to her, spreading and surrounding Andri in a faint reddish aura.

Not bothering with defense, she finished the weave, and as more blood from the giant flew towards her hand, powering her arcane spell, lightning began to crackle at her hand. Welcoming the giant's counter attack, the dark-haired Andri struck with both hand and blade, eager to extinguish the giant's life force like he had destroyed Pyrrha's flame.

Jozin kept his composure and gritted his teeth through the pain, and as the followup attack came towards him he spun around it. One slice at an exposed tendon put the giant on her knee, and another through the chest left her choking through blood as she collapsed on the ground.

Turning to quickly survey the landscape he saw Pyhrra's lifeless body collapsed under the other giant's weapon and felt his blood turn cold. Without a sound he broke into a charge, crossing the gap and leaping up to drive his blade through the giant's eye and holding on as it fell over backwards.

Raphael moved up to a point about midway between the two giants, where he could take aim at either one as necessary. Unfortunately, he wasn't fast enough to stop the flamedancer from falling to the giant's rage. Muttering curses against the sluggish weight of day and the stinging light, he raised up his gun again. The barrel spun, and another bullet of conjured matter shot out of the muzzle with a crack of red power. His aim wasn't as true this time, but giants really did make easy targets.

Watching the giant before them slam hard into Pyrrha, each hit caused a lump to form in the throat of the midwife. No... get up!!! By the will of Pharasma, get up! As movement happened around Miriam, she never lost focus on watching the Aasimar's body fall to the ground and the flames extinguish.

Not worrying about her own safety, the dark haired lady rushed over and slid to a stop next to Pyrrha. She placed shaking hands along the woman's right wrist and just below her left ear. Blood trickled from the limp bodies ear onto the back of the midwife's hand, slowing working on staining it crimson. No, it can't be... Pressing her hands upon the chest, she attempted to will the life back into the woman. "Please Pharasma, don't take this woman yet. Give her the life to continue her journey!"

The Dust ClearsThe Giants unceremoniously fall to the ground, nearly in unison. Motes of dust are kicked up in swirling eddies, around their heavy corpses. Their clubs thudding to the ground with similar results. It wasn't a slow and drawn out death, quick and mostly painless.

Miriam's prayers don't seem to reach her goddess, the wastes still creating silence in the divine realm. Beaufort, waddles over and looks at the bent and twisted corpse, now without the flames that all had already grown accustomed to, he grunts as he takes his knee next to her. "Now this, now this is a tragedy. One so young and eager plucked from us too soon. We should, I mean, we should show our most humble respects before we continue, er um, proceed."

It is hard to read if the portly man is acting out of consideration or social contract, he does seem to be slightly less animated than his typical blustery self. Perhaps the gravity and danger has now become more apparent to the lawyer. Unlike his usual commanding self, he seems to be differing to the others over the handling of the situation.

The gunman watched the giants fall with disinterested disgust. He looked around a moment more, but saw no further threat. He opened the cylinder of his weapon and shook out the powdered residue of the bullet used for the spell. He took a small cloth-tipped rod out of his pocket and used it to clean out the chambers. Once he was satisfied with that, he checked a few other things, and then slid the firearm back into its holster. He pulled a stained old cloth from a pocket, and wiped away the last traces of blood from his cheeks. Only when that was finished, did he walk over to where the fat man knelt.

"Tis a shame." He agreed, frowning down. He also knelt near the others, only long enough to reach a long arm across to slide fingers over her eyelids to close them. Then he stood again. "She was pleasant to look at." He undid his coat and tossed it in the back of the wagon, then loosened the buttons of his vest and rolled up his sleeves. "One of you, bring me a shovel."
