Well, your party's 4/5ths of the way there...

@Vahnscraze Still can't see it... Maybe update the link?

Totally changing one of my two traits. Going to keep my saves at +5 across the board instead of +5, +6, +5,....

Wow we got quite a lot of players - don't you think that will be chaotic?

Also: hi guys, i'm new to pbp (i tried once before, but it died fast) - but quite experienced with pathfinder.
Actually when i found this forum i applied for two games right away and got accepted in both whch i didn't expect

In the pen & paper world i'm gming my own homebrew game at weekends and playing in PFS whenever i find the time

Was never much of a Paladin guy and thought about trying it out anyway for a change.

I'm hoping not. You see, I got so many great apps that I had an Idea. A capital I Idea. Wouldn't it be cool (for me at least) if I ran two concurrent runs of this game, and see how the two different parties went about their business. Each party will have five members so we're almost all accounted for. I will be making each game thread inaccessible to the other party to prevent spoilers, (no peeking zevonian ) but once everything is all said and done I'll open them up and you can see how your dopplegangers did things. Sound interesting?

Greetings and salutations, you all everybody.

Since the DM name checked me, let me mention to those that don't know that as a Staff member (a Red) I can see all secret text.

Don't worry, I do my best to skip past it if I see it's not got my name on it.

I did that with one of the first games I DMed here and I won't lie it turned into so much extra work and stress for me that I ended up having to get a Co-DM just to make it sort of work.

But if two parties means I get to play then I'm down!

So how are we splitting it? Are you assigning parties, or do we get to pick?

Yeah, capital I Ideas can be like that. I like work though, and I like stress as long as fun is had by all

I've got the parties planned out. Team Alpha has all checked in, just waiting on austarrowsplitter and JasonWFD for team Delta (no you will not be referred to by these totally awesome names). I'll give them a couple of days. It is a holiday in certain parts of the world.

This pokes at my primary concern with having two groups playing simultaneously through same game forum. It's highly unlikely both groups will finish at the same time leading whoever finishes first to wait for the other even if all they want to do is see how they did. Additionally, it will be rather difficult to take both groups into new adventures as the wait time for the more expedient party could cause interests to dwindle. You might have to start the next segment even before the other group finished to prevent drop-outs. Speaking of which, you're going to have fewer backups should someone have to leave; just something to think about.

If this weren't such a short adventure, you could possibly get away with having the two groups "compete" within the same world. One party could be local, another from out of town and together they handle various jobs about the place. Group A hears about one lead and heads off into the forest to track it down. Group B hears about something else from their travels on the road leading them into the mountains. As the story progresses players could splinter off into subgroups where treehuggers might find one task of a greater priority (save the whales!) than the Lawful Do-Gooders looking to protect the town from bandits. This could possibly be easier given that you'd be running each encounter once rather than a potential two times if both groups stumble upon it. It also makes the campaign somewhat "AFK-proof" as if a player falls away those currently accompanying the group always have the option of escaping back to town where the rest of the players will eventually end up. You can always scale CRs back as needed.

As long as you create a few additional BBEGs so that people aren't racing to the same end point, you could use this rather linear module as a solid foundation for dynamic play with a lil' creativity. (Note: I've actually played this adventure before and know it's a lil' difficult for two groups to live within as is. I'll be relying heavily on RP to determine my actions; helps prevent my player knowledge from sneaking it.) Otherwise, I'm open to trying this so long as you can guarantee that managing two groups won't hinder your activity level (as mentioned earlier). You've basically doubled your DM-load which might be a struggle given this is your first time.

As a suggestion, consider making a pair of separate OOCs for the groups, as well, given that we'd have trouble planning in-game events in here if we don't want to spoil things for the other group. This could be like a public tavern where everyone mingles as we run along while the secondary OOC provides a suitable area for information private to each group.

All that said, if you could inform us of who is in which group, I'd appreciate it! I can't finalize my character until I know who I'll be traveling with. :S
