Lurhaztar's Thkazhth Circa -2100 BG

Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth

The dwarf empire of Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth was initially ill-suited for space travel, but through centuries of trial and error their quest to populate the cosmos was unstoppable. The ancient dwarf culture speaks of a race which inhabited vast subterranean cities and seldom ventured to their surface world. Indeed much of their oldest religious doctrines depict a people who saw no potential in the stars, their heritage was rooted deep in the soil of their home world.
Indeed the pre-astral dwarfs had few reasons to expand beyond their home world. They had achieved an efficient balance, they used massive amounts of raw materials in the construction of their modern world, yet with their inherent adeptness of improving production and quality, they managed to recycle used matter to a near 99% effectiveness, and synthesis of new artificial elements to create synthetic building materials, often the reused and synthesized products were stronger and more efficient than the orriginals.
Life was good for the pre-cosmic dwarfs. There was little need to leave their planet, but a growing movement to do just that was catching the attention of some more adventurous members of the race. There was a brief divide, all be it short-lived, when the most fanatical religious leaders spoke against exploration of space, yet a new movement had taken root and those who believed dwarfs should delve in all soils, across all stars, to know every rock, every metal, every ore, across the entire galaxy; earned the quick respect of the entire race. The few who remained adamantly opposed found themselves unheeded by the leaders.
The dwarfs were nothing if not efficiently organized. To oversee the expansion into the stars, the Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth (Divine-Miner’s Oversight-Council) was formed, the most influential of Monarchial houses were given seats, and while some houses have come to join while others have fallen from power, but the council remains the ruling body to this day.

Beyond Eoscate Circa -1700 BG

Beyond Eoscate

The Maandussuseks system, had become an iron fortress. A dwarven stronghold of metal, industry, and might. The system was a manufacturing powerhouse of mining colonies, extracting raw materials from uninhabitable planets and asteroids, and funneling them to the homeworld of Eoscate. A great unity had been forged within the dwarf race, and while the resources and means were available to expand military capacities on an interstellar level, the need was not prioritized.
A sturdy stellar policing force had long since been established by Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth, and for the matters of overseeing industry standards and corporate protocols, the force was more than adequate. Despite the empire’s unity, there was great corporate unrest. The Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth as the established ruling body invited internal espionage through its inherent hierarchal structure. The noble houses with the most lucrative and profitable ventures held the most influential seats on the council. Corporate espionage may not have been invented by the Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth, but it may have been perfected by the council.
The method of power shifting within the Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth had adapted an efficiency to rival their industrial infrastructure. It came to the point where only three houses managed to retain their seats with any longevity. The final three seats were held by House Lorearthen, House Soulaxe, and House Keveak, all other seats were filled and vacated, only to be filled again in a matter of weeks or months as the lesser houses each groped for their moment of power. The economic pulse of Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth could be judged solely on the three long-seated houses, and those who opted to work against them stood no chance at the council. As a result of this power vacuum several ancient houses were left in ruins, or completely eradicated. The clergy took notice of the trend rooted in the Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth, and sought to urge a change. The clerical interest in change was not for the greater whole of the dwarf nation, but was motivated purely by their own financial losses with the frequent fluctuation of who held power.
The church recognized that the Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth would not change their practices simply for the greater good. The clergy knew that to urge a change in the ruling structure, the motivation to make that change would have to offer a great profit for the strongest seats. The church took great care in assessing the options, and in a surprising move; the church urged Lurhaztar’s Thkazhth to expand beyond their home system of Maandussuseks. Now, the strongest opposition to stellar expansion had changed its position, and in doing so saved the empire from internal collapse.

Industrial Warfare -1400 BG

Industrial Warfare

The interstellar expansion of Larhaztar’s Thkazhth was an overwhelming success. The competitive nature of the council spurred expansion forth at an exponential rate, and in two centuries the dwarf empire had expanded into four systems, two completely colonized and two stellar outposts with heavy industrial facilities. The council’s stability had expanded, and the majority of houses were seated with great longevity. The empire became forged in unified strength, tempered like steel.
The Larhaztar’s Thkazhth bolstered their corporate security procedures. While the council’s seats grew more stable, the competition to control those seats flared to new ferocity. A practice of ambushing long-range transports during interstellar travel became commonplace, and as a direct result, armaments for ships and crew became the standard. The dwarf empire had grown into a formidable machine, constantly fighting itself, but enduring and growing stronger with each turn of the gears.
