Name: Holfast Silvehammer
Race: Dwarf
Class: Cleric
Intended Role: Healer
Alignment: Lawful Good
Personality: Holfast is a jovial sort, he enjoys good companionship and battle. He is slow to anger knowing that anger does nothing for any situation. He enjoys the occasional drink and grand tales.
Physical Description: 5’6 has long flowing brown braided beard with short cropped hair.
Background: Holfast grew up knowing nothing but war. He participated in battles in his youth but felt the pull of Torag. He had always felt that pull but had denied it for a long time. During one costly battle, Holfast and the remnants of battle group pinned down with many injured and no healer. He stood over a companion who was severely injured and close to dying. He prayed to Torag in the hopes of helping his friend and he felt the divine energy flow through him and heal his friend. He was able to heal all of the injured and in doing so turned the tide of the battle. Since then he devoted his life to Torag. As a cleric of Torag, Holfast traveled between different dwarven settlements. When he heard the call to Valejo, he knew that he would be needed there.

Posting my interest, though I've never gone to level 10. I'll try and get a basic concept up later today.

Historically, mandatory military service was 3 years for all able-bodied men 18-35. In recent years, the emperor has increased this to 5 years. Currently, those who have served their minimum 5 years are free to retire pretty much any time they like. If their 5 years is not up, however, they cannot leave service (legally) and the penalty for desertion is death.

The northern tribes are mostly human, though a few are tribes of shapechanging humanoids known as Nanuq. The Nanuq are not the ones raiding Valejo, however, since they are pledged to protecting the north and are not normally aggressive towards outsiders.

Trolls were not included in the Exile after the Millenial War for reasons which are not entirely known. Scholars have speculated that rather than banishing them from the continent, they were banished to the northern marshlands where they could serve to preserve the balance in the wilds there.

Hopefully I have adequately answered your questions. Let me know if you have any more.

Jumping in to a level 10 game as your first go might be quite the challenge but I am not going to say I am not willing to see what you come up with. There are many guides out there and I am really more focused on good writing and storytelling than I am in finding number crunchers who can break the game.

So you are more than welcome to submit an application and be considered among the rest.

Did the Great Millennial War actually last for a thousand years? so the current number of years between the start of the war and current day is about sixteen hundred years?

Settled on an idea for a Siege Mage carrying around a permanency "Shrink item" ballista if that's okay?

NavaName: Nava
Race: Sylph
Class: Wizard 10 (Siege mage)
Intended Role: Ranged damage (Ballista), transmutation caster, crafter

Physical Description: Standing at 5'8, Nava is slight for her height like most of her kind which makes her look (rightly) delicate. Her skin is almost white and the keen-eyed can see her elemental heritage in the faint, turquoise markings that dance in patterns beneath her skin. Her delicate features are accompanied by calculating, crystal blue eyes and a small, harsh mouth. Upon the head of her lithe form are substantial locks of dirty blonde hair, tied back into a tight ponytail to keep it from obscuring her view of the world. It would be liable to get into her face naturally, as a breeze follows her as she walks, lifting some of the natural litter of the land along her path. In preparation for the north, she wears a winter outfit, more specifically black robes insulated with thick furs and a heavy cloak kept on by an easy-to-work clasp. On her belt beneath the cloak, what looks like a tiny crossbow, about 4 inches across, along with a dagger usually resigned to those working with the meat and muscle of animals.

Personality: Nava, once part of a mercenary company specialising in hunting giants and their kin, is a formal woman around the best of company, speaking properly and as little or as often as is needed to allow for negotiation and pleasantries to be passed between those who can handle it best. She will not, however, let herself be talked down to, as most that intend to do so have never had a hard day's work in their life. Never have they seen a faithful companion be reduced to a broken corpse, nor felt their leg be twisted to an angle it should never reach, nor hunted a hill giant across many miles and carved out an eye as proof.

With the companions that she will be hunting with, she is more relaxed, amicable even. Rarely will she openly scold or despise any one of them, as when the worst comes to the worst and you're backed into a corner with a knife at your throat or a troll trying to crush it, she wants nothing more than someone she can rely upon to drive their own weapon into her foe, for she would do the same for each and every one of them. Gold can be found in any place after all, but allies can be few and far between.

Background:

Alignment: Neutral Good

A quick question: How would you feel about pre-paying the cost of permanence-d shrink item in the 33,000gp "preferred item" allowance?

Your aforementioned Ballista? Seems ok. Permanency costs 7,500 gp for Shrink Item and a Ballista costs 500 gp so at 8,000 gp you can use your regular reserves of gold.

Since Shrink Item needs CL 11 to be made permanent you'd have to hire another caster to do it which would cost 330 gp
(Caster level Spell Level 10 gp)

For a total cost of 8,330 gp.

Yes, more or less 1,000 years and nearly 600 years have passed since its end.

Great, thanks! I was planning on taking the Gifted Adept magic trait with shrink item as the chosen spell to be able to DIY the permanency.

You cannot craft your own items pre-game to save gold so you will have to pay full price regardless. You'd only save 330 gp anyway so is that really worth a Trait?

Fair enough, 330 gold that I wouldn't be able to spend anyway I guess. I'll try and whack out either the sheet or the fluff tonight.

You do not need a sheet until you are invited to join. I will grant time before the game starts for that.
