Application Ready For Review
Character Application

Name: Dimitri "Ludo" Ludovich
Age: 34
Class: Solarian (Icon)
Race: Human (Russian)
Physical Description: Ludo is of average height and slim build with thick, dark, wavy hair that hangs down over his ears. That combined with his full beard and slightly bulbous nose gives away his Russian ancestry. Ludo carries himself confidently at all times with a swagger and a smirk that can only come from celebrity status. He also dresses somewhat extravagantly and is fond of long, open coats with silk scarves. When in "game mode" his solarian armor forms a digitized two-button formal suit with a smooth helmet sporting red energy lines and the universal "power button" symbol on the face.
Personality: Much like how he carries himself, Ludo's star power (both literally as a Solarian and figuratively as a Russian celebrity) gives him a personality that oozes confidence at all times. He is usually smiling and laughing, making light of any situation. This has some of his teammates frustrated and could be interpreted as not playing well with others, but in the field he is all business and doesn't showboat or hog the spotlight.
Background: When the conflict between Russia and Europe broke out, a young Dimitri was drafted along with hundreds of thousands of other citizens for the glory of the Mother Russia. After his two required tours of duty, Ludo came home and fell into the violent and popular post-Flash sport of Laserball. Despite being quite fit and agile from his military training, he was a thoroughly mediocre player and after five years was prepared to accept that he would never go pro. That was until the most recent Flash. Discovering his body and mind now imbued with the power of a solar mote, Ludo used his new gift to dominate the league. With no official rules banning the use of superhuman powers he skyrocketed to the professional league and in three short years became one of Russia's most celebrated pop stars. During that time the Russian government tried several times to "volunteer" him back into service, desperately wanting his newfound superpowers put to use for the good of the Motherland. During the final attempt he was kidnapped from his flat by Russian special forces, but his fans caused a mass riot before they could escape the city. All six agents ended up dying and the entire city of Novosibirsk had to be put under martial law to quell the riots. Since then the Russian President has formally extended an "open invitation" to Ludovich to re-enlist at his leisure, but no more forceful attempts have been made.

Underneath all of his swagger and confidence, Ludo is secretly fearful of his solarian abilities. He doesn't fully understand how it works, or why it works. He's afraid that one day it might disappear, leaving him "mortal" once again, or even kill him. He hides it well, but the psych profile generated for this mission did warn of the potential to crumble under the pressure.

When the Russian government caught wind of the space program they strong-armed their way into participating, threatening blackmail and exposure to the rest of the world. Ludo was tapped to submit an application, and this time he agreed. Having already been military-trained, and now with his additional powers of photonic and gravitronic control he was able to easily outperform all of his candidates. The Russian leadership wishes to use Ludovich to achieve several goals: First, Ludovich's solarian powers showcases him as the top-performing member of the away-team proving Russia's superiority. Second, this mission puts Dimitri squarely back into the hands of the Russian government who can then use him for experiments or patriotic propaganda. Personally, Ludo hopes this mission will shed some light on his gift and allow him to better understand & control it so it doesn't consume him entirely. While he is certainly proud of his heritage and wants to perform well for his homeland, Ludo has no intentions of becoming a guinea pig or a puppet.

NPC Relationships:
Commander Müller: Ludo sees the Commander as stuffy and uptight. He likes to get under the mission leader's skin to get a rise out of him, but also because there's some latent animosity between the German Commander (who participated in the conflict with Russia). Secretly, Ludo feels slightly inadequate and his insubordination crops up as a defense mechanism.
Dr. Hannah Olsen: As a doctor and quasi-adrenaline enthusiast, Ludo sees a lot he has in common with Hannah. He's always initiating conversations about mountain climbing or survival treks and can't seem to stop "casually" mentioning how he's been gifted with his mote of solar energy and what that means for the scientific community.
Engineer James Jones: Ludo is always trying to draw Jones out of his introverted shell. As an American, Ludo admires Jones' country for finally isolating themselves after the Flash and concentrating on their own country instead of being a bleeding heart to the rest of the world. Whether Jones shares this sentiment or not is another story.

PC Relationships:
Sev: Two good-looking guys from underdog countries, both charismatic and with a touch of destiny. From Ludo's point of view, Sev and himself have a lot in common and he spends a lot of his free-time shooting the sh*t with the outlaw. If left alone they could get up to a lot of fun trouble! Secretly, Ludo admires and is a bit jealous of all Sev has accomplished. He sees both of them as wildly successful, but whereas Ludo got to where he was by the intervention of the universe, Sev pulled himself up completely by his own bootstraps.
Akemi: Ludo has conflicting feelings about the young Japanese pop star. On the one hand, he feels a kinship with her and can often relate to the idea that being famous is akin to being in a cage of rigorous schedules, expectations, and paparazzi. On the other hand, any time either one of them brings up their love for their respective native countries (which is often), things are liable to get a bit heated. Japan and Russia are certainly not allies, but despite that Ludo tries his best to make sure he and Akemi do remain allies during the mission.
Nicholas Kane: Kane is something of an anomaly to Ludo, which is saying something since he considers himself an anomaly. For all intents and purposes Kane seems like a walking, talking flash from the past, straight out of those kitchy American detective novels and shows. He is never quite sure how to act around the American who always seems to be poking his nose into other people's business, even moreso than the other crew members.

OOC@MoonZar: I invented the sport "Laserball" (taken from Fifth Element) for the purposes of character creation. I hope that was okay and let me know if I should amend that at all!

As you gain experience, you uncover new secrets about the powers of energy, gravity, stars, and other fundamental sources of cosmic power that grant you the ability to channel these forces and manifest potent preternatural powers. At 1st level, you automatically learn the black hole and supernova stellar revelations. At 2nd level and every 2 levels thereafter, you learn an additional stellar revelation. You cannot select the same stellar revelation more than once unless it says otherwise. You can choose any stellar revelations you wish, but if you have more photon revelations than graviton revelations, or vice versa, it is more difficult to become fully attuned in either mode (see Disproportionate Revelations).

Stellar revelations normally note what kind of action they require. If a stellar revelation does not note the kind of action it takes and it modifies some other action (such as an attack or skill check), it can be used as part of that action. If a stellar revelation allows a saving throw to resist its effects, the DC is equal to 10 + half your solarian level + your Charisma modifier. A revelation that says it lasts for 1 round or until you leave the associated mode lasts for whichever of these durations is longer. You can use stellar revelations both in and out of combat, but since you can’t enter a stellar mode outside of battle, any revelation that lasts for 1 round or as long as you’re in a stellar mode lasts only 1 round if you’re not in combat.
Stellar Revelations:
When you’re fully graviton-attuned, as a standard action, you can pull any number of creatures within 20 feet of you closer. You choose which creatures are affected and which ones aren’t. Each target must succeed at a Fortitude save or be pulled 10 feet toward you. The range of this revelation and the distance pulled increase by 5 feet at 5th level and every 4 levels thereafter. Solid objects do not block this ability, but any creature that runs into a solid object ceases moving closer to you. Creatures moved by this ability do not provoke attacks of opportunity from this movement. After you use this revelation, you immediately become unattuned. Black hole functions as a zenith revelation for the purposes of abilities that reference them.Black Hole | When you’re fully photon-attuned, as a standard action, you can deal 1d6 fire damage plus 1d6 additional fire damage per solarian level to all creatures within 10 feet of you. A creature that succeeds at a Reflex save takes half damage. At 9th level, you can increase the radius to 15 feet, and at 17th level, you can increase the radius to 20 feet. After you use this revelation, you immediately become unattuned. Supernova functions as a zenith revelation for the purposes of abilities that reference them.Supernova | Feats: You can maneuver a foe to be in the direct line of an ally’s fire.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +1.
Benefit: When you are threatening a foe with a melee weapon, any ally that has line of sight to that foe without you granting that foe cover gains a +1 bonus to ranged attack rolls against that foe.
Coordinated Shot | You are swift of foot and can make enormous leaps.
Benefit: When running, you move six times your land speed. Whenever you jump, double the height and distance you can jump. While running, you don’t gain the flat-footed condition.
Normal: You move four times your land speed and gain the flat-footed condition while running.
Jet Dash
Traits: At 1st level, you gain a physical manifestation of your stellar power. The base form of your solar manifestation, when not actively in use, is a mote of stellar energy slightly smaller than your fist that hovers near your head. Beyond the solar mote, your manifestation can take one of two additional forms: armor or a weapon. You must pick one solar manifestation (either armor or a weapon) upon taking your first level of solarian. You also choose whether your solar manifestation (in any form) either glows brightly with one color common to stars (including blue, red, white, or yellow) or is the perfect darkness of a black hole. A glowing solar manifestation, regardless of its form, sheds dim light in a 20-foot radius. You can shut off the light or darkness as a standard action in order to blend in or assist in stealth, but whenever you enter a stellar mode (see page 102), the glow or darkness returns immediately. Once made, these choices cannot be changed.

Only you can interact with your solar manifestation, whether in mote, armor, or weapon form. No other creature or effect can affect your solar manifestation in any way, including disarming or sundering it.
Solar Manifestation: You can form your solar mote into a suit of armor made out of stellar energy that outlines your body. This armor appears to be made out of glowing light or solid darkness, as determined by the appearance of your solar manifestation, but it can take what ever general shape you choose, whether glowing armored plates of solidified stellar energy, a form-fitting suit of crackling energy, or an aura of stellar plasma . Your solar armor's general design has no impact on its function and doesn't give the armor any special abilities. Once you've selected the general design, you can't change it until you gain a new solarian level.

Your solar armor grants you a +1 enhancement bonus to both your Kinetic Armor Class and your Energy Armor Class. This bonus increases to +2 at 10th level. It is compatible with light armor, but it gives you no benefit if you're wearing heavy armor. At 5th level, you also gain energy resistance 5 while your solar armor is active. You can choose either cold resistance or fire resistance when you activate the armor, and can switch energy types as a move action. This energy resistance increases by 5 at 10th level and every 5 levels thereafter.

Forming or dismissing solar armor is a move action.
Solar Armor | The stellar forces you call on are attuned to either photons (representing the power of stars to emit heat, light, and plasma) or gravitons (representing the power of stars to attract and imprison objects through gravity). The ultimate expression of photon power is the supernova, when all of a star’s energy is exerted outward, while the ultimate expression of graviton power is the black hole, where gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape it. The balance between these two opposing cosmic forces is the source of your power, and your stellar mode represents the strength of your connection with one or both of these forces—a relationship that shifts from one moment to the next as you use your stellar revelations.

When in battle, you enter a state of metaphysical alignment with cosmic forces. At the start of your first turn in combat, if you are conscious, you must choose one of three stellar modes: graviton, photon, or unattuned (see below).

At the start of each subsequent turn of combat, you must choose to either stay in your current stellar mode or to become unattuned. If you choose to stay in your mode, you gain another attunement point for that mode. As long as you have 1 or 2 attunement points in a mode, you are attuned to that mode. Once you reach 3 attunement points in a mode, you become fully attuned to that mode. Some of your stellar revelations are zenith revelations, which can be used only when you’re fully attuned to one mode or the other. When you are fully attuned, you cannot gain more points in your mode, but you stay fully attuned until combat ends, your stellar mode ends, or you become unattuned. If you choose to become unattuned, you lose all attunement points you’ve accrued so far. At the start of your next turn, you can enter a new stellar mode or stay unattuned.

At the end of combat, your stellar mode ends. If you fall unconscious during an encounter, you become unattuned. If you regain consciousness while still under threat, you can enter a stellar mode on your first turn after regaining consciousness, as if it were the first round of combat; if combat ends before you regain consciousness, your stellar mode ends. If you are not in a stellar mode, for any reason, you are considered unattuned for the purposes of your stellar revelations.

When you’re not in combat, you can’t enter a stellar mode. This ability manifests only in high-stakes situations, when your training takes over and connects your mind to the universe. There needs to be some risk to you for your stellar mode to activate, so you must be facing a significant enemy (see page 242). If there’s any doubt about whether you’re in combat or able to access your stellar mode, the GM decides. This also means that your stellar mode might end before what was previously a dangerous battle is over, once all that remains are dregs that don’t pose a real threat to you.

Photon Mode: When you enter photon mode, you gain 1 photon attunement point and become photon-attuned. Some of your stellar revelations are photon powers and get stronger if you’re photon-attuned. While photon-attuned, you gain a +1 insight bonus to damage rolls (including damage rolls for your stellar powers). This bonus increases by 1 for every 6 solarian levels you have.

Graviton Mode:When you enter graviton mode, you gain 1 graviton attunement point and become graviton-attuned. Some of your stellar revelations are graviton powers and get stronger if you’re graviton-attuned. While graviton-attuned, you gain a +1 insight bonus to Reflex saves. This bonus increases by 1 for every 9 solarian levels you have.

Unattuned:While unattuned, you gain no attunement points and you are neither photon-attuned nor graviton-attuned. You gain no benefits while unattuned.
Solar Mode | Choose a Profession skill (Laserball). You are hooked deeply into the culture of your iconic profession. When attempting a Profession or Culture check to recall knowledge about other icons of your profession or details about your profession's cultural aspects, increase the DC by 5. You gain a +1 bonus to checks with your chosen Profession skill. Culture also becomes a class skill for you, though if it is a class skill from the class you take at 1st level, you instead gain a +1 bonus to Culture checks. In addition, you gain an ability adjustment of +1 to Charisma at character creation.Theme Knowledge | Humans select one extra feat at 1st level.Bonus Feat | Humans gain an additional skill rank at 1st level and each level thereafter.Skilled | (Bluff, Sleight of Hand) As part of the process that led you to become a solarian, you gained additional insight and training. Choose two additional skills and add them to your list of class skills.Skill Adept

There's no way the space program will let in a fanatic in.

No cleric or representant of Christianity, Judaism or Islam has developed divine powers so far. As a DM I don't want the game to derail because of religious sensitive topics too much close to real life.

Here are some philosophies that are rising since the flash which is the following.

The Cycle: Introduced to Earth by astronomers Buddhist monks of Asia, the
philosophy teaches that existence is an endless cycle. Stars are born, die, and are born again, alternately bringing
life to the universe and destroying it. The balance of the cosmos rests on the Cycle, and it connects everything in the universe. The cycle teaches that through reincarnation and examining one's past
lives, one can reach enlightenment.

The Neo Shinto Faith: A renewal of the Shinto faith philosophy is rising a little bit since some of their cleric have developer divine powers. The heat of a sun, the power of wind, and the beauty of a wild plant are all proof of the complexity and power of nature and all the spirits that live in all things. The Neo Shinto Faith teaches respect for nature and living in balance with the environment.
I had no intention of going the "divine powers" route, so you don't need to worry about that. I was thinking along the lines of either an Envoy or Operative, with probably either the Scholar or Xenoseeker, or possibly the Corporate Agent theme. I can't decide if I want to go more toward a "diplomat", on a mission to ensure that the Church and its teaching are well represented when First Contact is made, in hopes of revitalizing the faith; or more of a "spy" type, looking to obtain knowledge/artifacts in order to enhance the Church's position in a corporate/political sense.

Both concepts center around the idea of First Contact being a 'defining moment' in Earth civilization, and trying to leverage that event into a return to prominence for the Church, either through gaining new followers or by controlling access to new technologies. Either way, I'm looking to focus more on the idea of the church as a corporation, or possibly the church in close cooperation with corporation(s), rather than the 'religious aspects'. But I don't want to go too far down the line of "religion is evil"; it's more like "religion is 'big business', and has all of the good and bad qualities that other large corporations have".

I'm not married to the idea of it being any specific religion that is sponsoring the character, though I did have the Roman Catholic Church in mind when I came up with the concept (in case it wasn't obvious). If you think that the concept would be too distracting, I can rework it to remove, or at least significantly diminish, the "religion" aspect...I can certainly understand if you're concerned about 'real world issues' having a detrimental effect on the game.

Name: D9000KX prototype (Naomi) <-- Click to View Character Sheet
Age: Unknown (appears to look around 22 in human years)
Theme: Spacefarer
Class: Operative (Hacker)
Race: Android

Description: Although androids could be of any age, the D9000KX prototype was not only an eye pleasing design by supporting a youthful early twenties look with silky black hair and dark brown eyes, but also its humanoid feminine features standing at 5' 8" and weighing 150lbs. The D9000KX prototype was one of the most advanced in AI units ever researched by it's Japanese creators before the great flash. However, thanks to Dr. Olsen's advancements in silicon-based lifeforms, she was able to emulate human flesh like skin for the D9000KX, making it virtually appear human. (Image when being reskinned)

Personality: Naomi enjoys studying life sciences and medicine, but loves to explore things. She also took up piloting as a hobby while she strives to be as human as possible. To her, sometimes the border between human and machine have problems relating emotionally due to her programming. However, Naomi has adopted this disconnect to an advantage, especially when a human "hard" decision needs to be made, she takes the most logical approach.

NPC relationships:
James Jones:
James had discovered and recovered the remains of the D9000KX prototype during one of his missions, along with a Aeon Stone, Clear Spindle (level 1, 245 credit value)small ancient looking clear stone that he thought might serve as part of its memory core. The stone looked old and was only worth a few hundred credits, so he decided to hang on to it and give it to her as a link to her past. He just couldn't resist the temptation of restoring the prototype to see what made it tick and perhaps unlock some technological breakthrough that was lost in the great flash. This led to unit being claimed by the Mitsubishi corporation as James obtained approval to work on the android that could assist them on their mission.

Eventually, with the Mitsubishi Corporation backing and his hard work, everything paid off as Naomi was brought online during the project. Luckily, after a long review, the board approved the addition to the team as they deemed it beneficial to have an android backup in-case loss of air, space exposure.something terrible happened that resulted in the crew's demise. James was also given the responsibility to care and maintain the unit.

Hannah Olsen:
Dr. Olsen had personally developed Naomi's outer skin and taken Naomi under her wing as a Lab Technician and apprentice Medical Officer in Life Sciences. After all, it was nice to have a lab/medical assistant to work with, not to mention a good person to send out on an away team as a science officer and ensure the crew remains in good health.

Karl Williams:
It was only natural for Naomi to spend some time and try to become friends with Karl as she tries to understand what it is to be human. After all, her programming to learn and adopt human type responses aid in the units ability to blend into a society.

PCs relationships:
Comandante Luis Diaz de Vivar: Naomi and Luis began their relations by logging countless hours together as he teaches her all manners of piloting, adding in the occasional pointer now and then. It is obvious to Luis that she is not prepping to become some "ace pilot" but she does seem motivated to basic understanding, perhaps a drive as a co-pilot. In either case, he's occasionally found her star gazing and comment about her desire to travel in space.

Lt. Commander Arisawa Chou-McFadden: Naomi enjoys the conversations with Arisawa. The android has no problem answering questions to the best of her ability and often does not know the difference between inappropriate or too much information. Over all, Naomi tries to return friendship to the best an android can. Sometimes her AI seems almost life like.

Notes: If anyone wants to include her in their background. Please feel free to reach out to me with any ideas.

Background: During the advancements of Androids, the D9000KX was a pre-flash prototype AI operative unit designed to unravel the connections and mysteries of ley lines. Little did the world know that ley lines were not just on the earth, but connected to all the multiverse, time and space. It was during one of the experiments when the D9000KX was subjected to an electrical phenomenon that resulted in an electrical overload and the unit crashing, leaving the data of it's discoveries inaccessible and unrecoverable causing it's discovery and understanding of Mysticism to remain a mystery.

Many years passed since that day and several attempts to fix/recover the unit had failed. Failure was due to the need of greater technological resources. On top of the resource needs, it also caused financial budget issues which forced the project to be scrapped and the remains placed in storage and forgotten over time. Several more years passed before the D9000KX was "rediscovered" by James Jones who managed to accomplish the monumental task of bringing it back online. Thus in his achievement he named the D9000KX, Naomi after a long lost love he once had.

With the reactivation/renewal of D9000KX for the project, it was not only granted a "new life", but was also improved a bit and retrofitted with a lifelike silicon skin thanks to Dr. Olsen's research. To this day, some of her architecture/designs are unknown as it was lost in the aftermath of the flash along with it's data related to the ley lines. The attempts to reverse engineer it have failed, leaving somewhat of a "black box" to the techies who were trying to replicate or understand it.

During the next few months Naomi prepped for the mission. Her ability to act as a (Life Science and Medicine)medical bot and pilot seemed to be basic abilities the unit was able to develop. Her capabilities also extended into Physical Sciences, Computers and Engineering. The truth of her designs are still unknown.

@MoldyNolds

Can you please add more to the app to explain how Ludo could exactly contribute to the mission and why the Russians would have chosen him over all the military heroes and scientist they might have in line for this kind of position. Why would this goverment endorced a civilian star?

@Kay

You will have to decide if your character is the property of the USA goverment or was purchased by Mitsubishi group. It's all good that she is been taken care of by James during the mission.

1.Name: Doug Bower

2.Age: 27
3.Class: Mechanic/Themeless
4.Race: Human (USA)

5.Physical description: You may post an image, but provide a physical description in words regardless.
6.Personality: Self-explanatory, give an idea of how your character behaves in public and how he's like.
7.NPC relationship (minimum 2): Talk about your relationship with two of the NPCs of the crew. They can be friend, rival and so on.

8.PCs relationships (2 minimum): What would your character first impression of the other PCs members that are part of the space program training? You can assume they know a bit of their history and background that you can read in the applications. Consider that all applicants are part of the space program training.. You can collaborate with the other players on that if you want a more in-depth relationship between your characters in the world. Characters not chosen may become NPCs in the world.

9.Background: Talk about your character past, goals, fear, and weakness. Of course I expect to see there why your character decided to join the space program and take that risk.

RP Sample: No need, focus more on the other things I'm asking please. Your background story should be enough to show off your writing skills.

Of course, I love feedback! I elaborated a bit on Ludo's background, giving him some loose ties to the military. Basically, the draw to using Ludovich as the Russian candidate rests solely on his solarian supernatural abilities. Let me know what you think about the extra bits.

@Moon: I'm still updating things, but after the unit was recovered, the Mitsubishi group financed (taking claim/ownership) by providing resource/funding on the restoration and addition to the project. (where as James took the lead in the restoration and maintenance)

That help to tie it up, by a bridge into the military. However the Russian won't send someone very loyal to them, you will have to factor in that there's a cold war going between China\Russia and europe\japan. It can make sense like you said in the background that they accepted a russian in the mission to ease diplomacy.

Character Application
right-aligned image
Name: Severino Ulises Márquez
Age: 27
Class: Envjoy [Outlaw]
Race: Human
Physical Description: Tall and fit, Severino works hard to stay looking presentable. Though he has a tendency to grow out some sideburns and a goatee, he’s kept clean-shaven knowing well that corporate suits take a cleaner look more seriously. His sun kissed skin and pale blue eyes are certainly uncommon within Japan, but on board the Hikari he is simply another face. Although he prefers to dress up rather than down, he’s not shy about wearing armor and other protective designs, though he may complain it ‘disrupts his figure’.
Personality: A spitfire with no origin, a star fated to burn out- but will it explode or fizzle? Severino (or Sev, as he often prefers) is a loud mouth. Equal parts charming as he is lucky and stupid, he is the type of person to talk his way out of a situation only a minute after being the sole reason for being in it. Some call him capricious, and there is an element of “Well, **** it.” he is known to employ in his line of work, and so far a combination of skill and luck has allowed him to get by to the annoyance of those that have the privilege to know him. Despite his existence immediately spiking the blood pressure of all allies in a 10ft radius, he is not without his charm points.

For one, Sev is a good listener. Considering his tendency to yak on about a subject, he is surprisingly receptive to simply shutting up and listening. He is willing to engage with others no matter the problem, and to attempt to genuinely connect even if it were a completely basic level. His communication skills are tip-top, and despite his rascally nature, a genuine conversation quickly reveals that he is someone that can be trusted. Additionally, although he may go about things in a way that frustrates others, whether it be due to foolish snap decisions or simply by being too loud and annoying, Sev is by no means incompetent. As a displaced citizen of South America, he has had to fight for his life. Whether his attitude is an attempt to mask what he has had to do, or a genuine approach to life, is a mystery. What isn’t a mystery, is that he is willing to do what it takes to get the job done, even to the extent that others in his crew might find ridiculous.
NPC Relationships:
  • Karl James: It shouldn’t come as a surprise that one of the first people he schmoozed up to was Karl; the pilot was already the funniest on board, and a joy to be around, so why wouldn’t he? The two frequently exchange stories over drinks, and while their pasts couldn’t be more different, Sev finds a sense of kinship with the pilot over his desire to go for space despite having a loving family, with no necessary promise of return. He appreciates his energy and his ambition, and thus considers him a good friend.
  • Ayami Takayama: Sev understands connections. He understands what it means to be the only thread to an organization, individual- entity, and to be seen as such. He also understands the value of that. Though their life experiences differ greatly, Sev has put in work trying to win over the heiress, whether it be showering her in praise, genuinely engaging in her interests, or just good ol’ fashioned flirting. How much of his interest is genuine- or simply him being aware of what being in her good graces means, is still up for debate. Regardless, he’s one of the first to back her up in a situation.
  • Stefan Müller: As the likely highest ranking member on board, Sev has attempted every possible tactic to stay in his good graces. Gift giving, praising, engaging- hell, he even bought him drinks! On his own cred! Though some may see his attitude as being a bit of a “suck up”, the truth is… yeah, he’s a suck up. Sev respects Stefan’s experience, attitude, and prestige, so he does his best to not get in his way in an effort to earn his trust.
PC Relationships:
  • Nicholas Kane: Though he would never admit it, Severino finds comfort in the presence of Nicholas. Not because of any good reasons, mind you. It is simply because in a world where technology has once again dug its root deep into society, it’s rare to find others who attempt to operate outside of its bounds. Sev had to for some time, and knowing Nicholas does the same illicits a very basic sense of kinship.s
  • Naomi: The concept of an android was not something that he really had to grapple with when he was 13. Now nearly in his thirties, he finds himself wanting to go back to that age. Though she might be pretty, and useful- he finds the fact that she’s “not a real person” to be infinitely troubling. In his mind, it means that they’re harder to schmooze. So he keeps his distance without letting her take a peek at this hand, so to speak.
  • Hiyoto Akemi: On one hand, being an idol meant that she had good connections- that in turn made her a valuable connection to acquire. On the other, being an idol also meant that she likely knows every trick in the book. Though he keeps her in mind, Sev has opted to play the field safely until he figures out more about her. The fact that she was an ultra-nationalist didn’t exactly fill him with confidence, but he could at least respect her gung-ho take on life.
Background:

Aaaand here we are. I took some liberties with the lore around South America, so if things don't seem right on your end, just feel free to mention and I'll correct it.

work in progress
left-aligned image

Name: Captain Conner Dumas of the RAAMC
Age: 28
Class: Scholar / Military Doctor Soldier
Race: Human (Australian)

Physical description: You may post an image, but provide a physical description in words regardless.
Conner is of average height being a couple inches short of six feet with a strong build but not in an obvious way given his lack of bulk and narrower shoulders. He keeps his hair closely shaved but from the thick stubble and eyebrows it appears to be a dark brown in color and compliments his hazel eyes, his skin is youthful and unblemished, and the ever present hint of a smile does wonders in softening his appearance. His movements are practiced and sure, his step is confident and he prefers to make eye contact with those he interacts with as he finds he gets a better feel for people that way.

6.Personality: Self-explanatory, give an idea of how your character behaves in public and how he's like.
If one thing Conner has in spades it is patience, and he is not easily rattled in any fashion, likely from his years of training in yoga and meditation. He can move and act quickly when needed but prefers to be cautious to avoid mistakes and avoid a rash action that could lead to further complication when not needed. Conner is generally considered trustworthy among those who know him, and rarely has reason to lie unless the truth would cause more harm than good. He is an eternal optimist, often seeking the good in any situation and often believing the best in people, and likely one of the first to offer somebody a second chance if they warrant it. His fears are common place such as death and old age, but he is convinced with a healthy lifestyle and his biofeedback research that he has a good chance of leading a long and fruitful life, but along with that is his desire to achieve something of importance as well and to leave a lasting mark on the world.

7.NPC relationship (minimum 2): Talk about your relationship with two of the NPCs of the crew. They can be friend, rival and so on.

Hannah Olsen: Conner can't help but be interested in Hannah's work, the creation of new life is an incredible accomplishment and despite its legal implications is one that Conner believes is for the better for all. While Conner's own research is more heavily focused on the study of biofeedback techniques and training as well as a study of radiation and its effects upon the living. Hannah has shown some interest in his studies, and they have a good working relationship as they share some of the duties of caring for the shuttle crew.

James Jones: Conner for all his love technology very much feels that the human component is more important, that there are things a computer intelligence just can not grasp. Conner worries they are too cold and calculating, and that creep of technology into the human body has had an effect on the species. James is an example, while the cybernetic arm is without a doubt a marvel of technology it is not without its effect on James, and Conner is concerned that James is increasingly turning towards his robotic creations. Conner tries to engage James in discussion when he can and frequently checks in on the rather gifted drone engineer.

Conner was born and raised in Bonegilla, Victoria where is mother, Audrey is doctor and an RAAMC officer , is stationed with the Army Logistic Training Centre as an instructor. His father, Hudson, runs a small Yoga studio and martial arts dojo, and is the more adventurous spirit of the two, an American by birth he traveled widely before settling down after meeting his mother while she was at a conference in India. Conner was well loved and he learned martial arts and yoga from his father at a young age, and there is no doubt he inherited his mother's gifts with a scalpel and smarts he was repeatedly at the top of his classes. He was merely adequate at sports, largely from a lack of interest in them, but did well in more individual related sports such as running, swimming and martial arts such as Karate and Judo.

At sixteen Conner became a shodan and has stayed with his martial arts training over the years finding the movements kept his body in good shape despite the increasing time he spent focused on his studies in preparation for grad school. Upon graduation he was promptly accepted into Monash University's Bachelor of Medical Science program where he did exceptionally well and where he started his research into biofeedback techniques, afterwards he continued on to take his Doctor of Medicine and enlisted in the Royal Australian Army as a medical officer. He participated in a joint program studying the use of biofeedback on airforce pilots in extreme stress situations and higher atmosphere operations, which had a follow on study that included researchers from Japan and the United States, where he published a paper showing the benefits of these techniques on those that would be active in outer space. He graduated from the Doctor of Medicine program at twenty five while continuing his research and formally becoming part of the RAAMC, at which time he expected to be assigned in Australia but instead was on temporary loan at the request of the United States to be part of a specialized team for a classified project. While unusual in itself the Americans and Australians have had a long history of joint efforts and Conner had impressed a few bright minds at NASA with his earlier joint study, so was included in the American contingent that arrived in Japan as part of the space program.

This is an idea I've wanted a chance to play around with for a while now...Let me know if anything doesn't click right for the setting. WIP.

Application
right-aligned image
Name: Hiyoto Akemi
Age: 24
Class: Envoy (Icon theme)
Race: Human (Japanese-Taiwanese)
Physical description: Akemi is a slender waif of a young woman, standing at around 160 cm and weighing in at maybe 55 kilos dripping wet. She keeps her body in good shape and usually has some level of defined muscle tone, helped both by her years on stage and her weekly yoga vidstreams. While she does keep the old-school Japanese aversion to tattoos and body piercings, Akemi does rattle the cages by changing up her hair color and style about once a month, always trying for something new and different. Her sense of style has always taken on a weird neo-military bend with lots of camo and webbing belts and straps, getting more obvious in the years since she went solo.

Personality: From the outside, Akemi's personality looks like this weird mixed bag. On the one hand, she's very outgoing and personable, always trying to do what she can for charities and a proud supporter of community works. On the other, she's a staunch nationalist, a loud and proud Neo-Shintoist, and reportedly once broke a reporter's jaw when asked if she would ever perform in Beijing. Those who know her best though know very well that these are just two sides of the same coin; she loves her nation and her countrymen, and sometimes gets a little bit too passionate.

Background: Daughter of a Japanese salaryman from the Nissan Group and a Taiwanese refugee, Akemi was born and raised in a Post-Flash Tokyo. Her childhood was pretty normal (aside from her mother's slightly morbid habit of telling her stories of how she survived in and eventually fled Taiwan following it's fall), until about the age of 15. With a group of close friends, Akemi participated in an audition for one of Japan's proud cultural treasures, AKB48, and actually succeeded in gaining a spot in the massive roster.

It didn't take long for Akemi to realize that any idea that being part of an idol group was just glitter and rainbows was purely naive. Controlled diets and social lives, hours of mandatory practice and routines a day, rivalry between teams that were purposely spurred by the managers to drive up ticket sales. It was enough to drive a young teen to the brink, and it wasn't uncommon for new recruits to drop out early on, or worse. But Akemi had been raised on the her mother's stories of survival; what the teen was facing was nothing compared to what that woman had faced.

Latching on to that one constant, Akemi fought and clawed her way up the ladder. She learned how to be cunning without being vicious, to turn enemies into allies, to ride the knife's edge of edgy enough to be recognizable while still playing by the group's innocence rules. Within six years, she was one of the group's biggest members and was rewarded with the opportunity to graduate the group and go solo. This would forever go down as one of the worst decisions by Project 48 of all time, as the skilled idol took a large number of her fans with her. There was no better crucible to forge innate talent into skill than the idol process, and without the strict rules and restraints placed on her Akemi was able to explode into a massive brand of her own.

After several years sitting on the top of the charts, a couple of platinum albums, and the formation of her own record label, Akemi was approached by a member of the Mitsubishi Group. The idea was simple, if not a little vague: the world's first manned mission to Mercury, and they wanted her on board. In Akemi's eyes, it was obviously a PR play on Mitsubishi's behalf, hoping to use her fame to drive up interest and then in hand their own stock. It didn't even cross her mind that they might be depending on other skills she possessed for other things they chose not to discuss.
