Planned start

Hi all. I'm super excited about getting a new campaign started. I will get links to the rulebook posted tonight from a real computer. Since traveller uses random, guided, character generation, I think we should all do it together. That way, if two players get a similar event, they can use it to form a link in their background (for instance, maybe both were in the army and fought on the same side of a hopeless battle).

I will be going on business travel on the 27th, that will probably be a good time to get started. For now, just think about what kind of character you'd like to play. If there's something you can't do with the careers in the main book, let me know and we'll see what I can find.

Once we actually start, your characters will be aboard t great starliner. The Queen Elizabeth VI has plied the route from the core of the Imperium to the Spinward Marches for decades, boasting well over a thousand jumps without even the slightest mishap. She is the safest and the most enjoyable way to make a long journey and filled with passengers from all walks of life. At present, she is in the Lunian Subsector and making her way to the Spinward-Coreward extent of the Imperium, picking up and dropping off passengers along the way.

Specifically, the game will start during a jump from Persephone (a fairly unremarkable, but stellar-capable world) to Spirelle (a prosperous and reasonably advanced world not quite able to support a defense fleet of its own). I will leave it entirely up to you all to decide why you're on the ship, headed further from "civilization." You don't have to know each other, although feel free to foster connections during character creation as the opportunity presents itself.

Statistically speaking, thousands of jumps without a single mishap makes mishap immanent. I've skimmed the character creation sections of the book, and I think I'm ready for any statistically unfortunate certainty you can throw at me :-)

Take a look at this guy, it walks through the process fairly clearly. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...0Flowchart.pdf
