Just to clear up what seems to be a point of confusion, while Rapier is a 1h weapon type, it is in the light blades weapons group, which is what the modified weapon focus would apply to. Also, Swashbucklers don't actually get weapon finesse as a feat, they get a class feature:

Swashbuckler Finesse (Ex)
At 1st level, a swashbuckler gains the benefits of the Weapon Finesse feat with light or one-handed piercing melee weapons, and she can use her Charisma score in place of Intelligence as a prerequisite for combat feats. This ability counts as having the Weapon Finesse feat for purposes of meeting feat prerequisites.

which is probably still fair to get a replacement feat for, since everyone now gets a free feat which is (almost) as good.

Ah, lizardfolk. One of my earliest experimental PCs was a lizardfolk fighter.. back in the Ad&D days, before it was commonly accepted as a race. Never got to play him much, but still love the concept I had and the Mini i bought and painted for him.

A lizardfolk here would be such a cool thematic choice. I applaud you!

Thanks, I don't go in for playing non-standard races often, but Lizardfolk and Gnolls are probably my two favorites!

I liked the idea (of that fighter) so much, as I DM'ed a few folks, I worked with one to introduce a magic (cursed) sword that came into their possession.

Basically, the more it was used (tasted blood), the more powers it conferred on the owner, while changing the owner into a lizardfolk. Basically, as you leveled, the sword made your skin tougher (+1 AC), then scaly, then made your fingers grow claws, and your size to increase (18/00), etc..

Each progression came with a bonus, but the curse of being green and scaly, or having a tail.

Unfortunately, like many games back then... life comes along, people move, get girlfriends, lose interest, go to college, etc., and it never blossomed.

That's a cool idea. One of the things that drew me to try the Palladium Fantasy RPG back in the day was that their version of lizardfolk (lizardmen I think?) was a core race. I wish Pathfinder had given them a little more love so they had some flavorful racial traits and feats, but I think Thematically they're a very interesting race.

Meh. At the end of the day, Swash Fin walks like a duck and talks like a duck. Also lizardfolk make excellent chamber maids.

Oh! This will probably affect trait and feat and trait selection. We'll be doing group initiative and I'll roll for both groups. I'll average initiative modifiers for all combatants and apply them to the appropriate roll. Groovy?

See Brian's comment. Weapon Focus now applies to Fighter weapon groups. Rapier is in Blades, Light, so take that as your focus. For anyone else dealing wth weapon groups, consider Estoc in the Blades, Light group if you have proficiency, Blades, Heavy if you don't.

I'm really partial to Magus lately, thank you Wrath of the Righteous. Kensai Dex Magus with an Estoc is honestly pretty nasty.

First Level PC's are fairly easy to build up, and without having to buy gear, I think I am probably 95% done?

Look forward to seeing what the rest of you bring...

Very groovy. I'm going to give Ysolde till the morning, then I've got one more player in mind if they're not interested. I'm also getting the opening post ready.

I've a warpriest made, but it's essentially a self-buffing melee fighter, so I'm not sure it's really any different than the barbarian, lol. I'm thinking about it.

My sheet is more or less made (yes, it really is easy to whip up a character without items!) but I haven't got to writing up the blurb yet. What are you after in terms of background Icereach? Do you want a 900-page Tolkien-esque masterpiece, or the bare bones to work with?

I'm pretty cool with whatever you wanna give us. I feel like we'll get to know the characters best during play, anyways.

If we end up with no divine or arcane magic... maybe the boss can let us gestalt.
