Seeing the barghest's back turned to him, Tam is the first to strike, swiping his claws at the enemy to make him turn. Scar, waiting for the opening, then leaps in with his teeth and rips at the enemy's throat. Finally Tam tears up and then in, sinking his own teeth into their foe. With the creature flickering in and out of existence though, it is only Tam whose teeth find their mark.

Wilds, Central US - Thursday afternoon
*
Joya's scarf zips through the creature's body as he blinks, but Sprinkles gets the timing right as the blade leaves a line of blood in the barghest's flank. The hideous creature spins again, focusing on the source of damage. The first claw scrapes against his armor, not quite making it to his skin. The ratkin staggers a bit right into the patch of the second swipe, but luckily it passes through his head as barghest is a victim of his own defense. Sprinkles lets out a small cackle, but quickly regrets it as the teeth bury themselves in his shoulder causing a spray of blood. Tam and Scar finish positioning themselves, surrounding the creature and putting everyone into a flanking position. This advantage is almost nullified as repeated attacks pass through it, with only Scar's bite leaving a small wound. John tries to capitalize on this, but the acid passes through the barghest as well. The barghest's head whips back and forth as it starts growling in it's throat. Sprinkles calls out, recognizing this from his time spent in the Wild, "No let finish. Will run away and get rest of pack." Summary: Sprinkles 8 dmg. Dice John 50- miss:
Attack of Opportunity for everyone except John. It is using a spell like ability. Barghest is under the effects of blink now. 50% miss change, you can roll or I will. Round 5 over Round 6 go.

The bear and fox react simultaneously to the slight distraction their enemy suffers from, each diving in, Tam with his massive claw and Scar with a bite at its flank. Tam's claw strikes true, tearing into the barghest and shredding it's tough skin. The bear pulls its prey into a lethal grapple as it hits, dragging the creature towards it despite the flickering spell it is under.

Wilds, Central US - Thursday afternoon
The frustrations continue as both Joya and Sprinkles attack passes through the creature. The barghest finishes the unusual growl that make Sprinkles call out the warning, stretching as the final trigger to his ability. In the final attempt to stop the thing before, you assume, it escapes for backup, there are a series of attacks. Most miss, but as a deep purple glow begins to outline it Tam's claw makes contact causing a yip. The glow fades as the Tam-bear pulls the creature into his arm with the crunch of breaking bones before it goes limp. Round 6 over. Combat round ended.

With his final bite crushing the barghest's skull and fountaining blood across his fur, the ten foot bear roars out his triumph. Standing on his hind legs, Tam lifts the creature's limp body and rips it in half before turning an facing the grasslands around them. Still tall he roars again, a challenge of primal fury and intensity. With Joya speaking to him, Tam lets his heart slow and his senses return to him. Sniffing deep he circles the wagons and looks for any smell that might indicate that they are being stalked further by enemies. At last, minutes later he shifts again, his form rippling and twisting as his long, lean limbs emerge from the bloodied fur. Both he and Scar are badly hurt, and he knows how close to death they have once again come. Limping towards the wagon, Tam reaches into his pack and pulls out a scroll. Reading it in a cracked voice, he presses his hand to his heart and lets the spent paper fall. Even as the Infernal healing, 10hp healed over 1 minflesh knits across his wounds, the wizard's eyes glow a deep red, and a cloud seems to pass across his features - his mouth, never exactly happy twists down into a snarl. But a minute later the cloud has passed, and Tam straightens to climb up onto the wagon. Scar, shrunk down now, climbs weakly into his lap where Tam strokes his fur gently and murmurs to him to calm the little fox.
"Tasted meaty but not poisonous. Let's take one and cook it when we can. Nuthin' else we can chuck it to any more trolls on th'way. Let's move - beasts'll be drawn to here like flies to **** now."

Wilds, Central US - Thursday afternoon
Sprinkles twitches a furry eyebrow at the exposed tenacles and feedings, "Even we no eat raw in Wild. Dangerous." he sighs and looks at the remains of the corpse, "Poison happen if done wrong. We need move before others smell blood. They will..." He stops as his ear flicks and he turns his head. He indicates the direction they came with a wave of his hand, "They not likely issue. We have visitor." In the direction the ratkin indicated are the shapes of three mounted horses in the distance. Caveman: please clarify what spell was used and the results.OOC
