The big matchmaking thread -- enter here to find your game!

Hi! This thread is dedicating to the matchmaking, ie to finding people to game with (players for GMs, GMs for players, or both at the same time!)

This first post used to host the "BIG TABLE of people looking for games to play/GM", which, given its importance, has now been moved to its own thread.

Post here to be added to the table (the instructions are in the thread linked above), to request a game folder, to advertise your character/game idea, or for anything related to actual gaming in the Bazaar. All other discussions (game systems, idle chattering) are best left to the OOC thread. Except that nobody actually cares about the distinction, but hey, this is the Bazaar, not the Solo University...

I hereby give you...

The big Cthulhu Confidential scenario list
arranged by protagonist and plot

Written for Goliathus and posted here for eventual reuse by my future players (and other Confidential GMs, why not?)

Phyllis Oakley (introductory character)
left-aligned image
Phyllis Oakley
A somewhat suspect antiquarian who picks through second-hand book marts and the collections of the recently deceased, looking for undervalued books. Find the right old tome or obscure misprinted edition, and she can eat for a month. She also deals in banned books, in censored or foreign books, and in special orders...

Scenario: The Red Mist (introductory scenario)
A boxer lost in a psychic labyrinth, a monster that lurks within our own minds, and a mysterious book combine to drag the investigator into a bloody nightmare.

Scenario: A Cable's length from Shore
You scour second-hand stalls, private auctions, secret bibliophile clubs, looking for what your clients seek. You have contacts all over London, lesser book-hunters and traders and barrow-rummagers who sometimes turn up something valuable. One of your most valuable contacts was Alf Fulbrow.

Six months ago, you attended his funeral. Drowned, his daughter said. So who left that rare occult book on your doorstep last night? What ancient force, awoken from the slumber of three thousand years, stalks the streets of London?

This scenario is freely available as part of the Free Rpg Day 2018 and includes quickstart rules.

New York: Vivian Sinclair
left-aligned image
Vivian Sinclair
A sharp-dressing, straight-talking, New York investigative journalist. Equipped with your smarts, your notebook, and your unerring nose for a good story, your job is to scour the streets of the City of Dreams and dig up its darkest secrets.

Scenario: Fatal Frequencies (from the manual)
In the offices of the New York Herald, Sadie Cane seeks reporter Vivian Sinclair's help. Sadie's fiancé, George Preston, disappeared three days after a murder in his apartment block. Can Viv uncover the truth about George, and will Sadie like what she finds?

Scenario: The Howling Fog
Chasing a scoop, you go deep undercover in sleazy clip joints and Harlem’s famous Cotton Club — only to learn a dead Irish hitman’s terrifying secret, one that can be used to commit murder from a distance. Can you get your story with your hide, and your sanity, intact?

Scenario: Ex Astoria
A brawl between picketers from the miner’s union and scab laborers working on the Winn Water Tunnel has turned into a riot, and Vivian Sinclair is on the scene reporting. But it seems the scab workers are the least of the miners’ concerns. Can Viv prevent further injuries and an environmental disaster?

Wartime DC: Langston Montgomery Wright
left-aligned image
Langston Montgomery Wright
You are Langston Wright: a scholarly WW2 veteran, fighting for room to breathe in wartime Washington under the shadow of the Jim Crow laws. Equipped with your smarts, your test tubes, and your determination to help people, your job is to scour the streets of the District and fix its toughest problems.

Scenario: Capitol Colour (from the manual)
Lynette Miller was a riveter. A few weeks ago, she got a new job: hush-hush, and highly paid. She’s a clever and resourceful young woman, and now she’s missing, and her father is heartbroken. Can Langston Wright unweave a web of deceit, face down racist cops, and uncover the deeper conspiracy which endangers the war effort?

Scenario: One For the Money
Rhino Jones is one tough cookie, and he makes it impossible to turn down his demand to find out who stole from him and killed his crew. This leads Langston into a blurred otherworld of corrupt businessmen and Nazi spies, and the deadly weapon prototype that they're all trying to get hold of.

Scenario: The Shadow Over Washington
Langston knows an ancient enemy is rising, but he is trapped a million years away. An extraterrestrial intelligence inhabits Langston’s body, dodging bullets as well as a monster controlled by a madman. All the while, Langston’s sanity and the nation’s capital city are on the line.

L.A.: Dex Raymond
left-aligned image
Dex Raymond
You are Dex Raymond: a hard-boiled L.A. private eye with a nose for trouble. Equipped with your smarts, fists, and just maybe a code of honor, your job is to walk the streets of this dirty town and uncover its darkest secrets.

Scenario: The Fathomless Sleep (from the manual)
How did fast-living society girl Helen Deakin come down with a case of catatonia? Her sultry sister pays you to find out. As Dex Raymond, you’ll explore a web of blackmail, dirty money, and weird mysticism in the city of fallen angels.

Scenario: High Voltage Kill
When your production designer Source Max Weyl puts you on the case of missing and dangerous movie props, the laboratory set pieces from 1931’s Frankenstein, you encounter a man so determined to get revenge he’s willing to kill anyone who gets in his way, be it bystander, cop, or hardboiled private eye. Can you solve the case with your hide—and sanity—intact?

Scenario: The House up in the Hills
When a client asks you to investigate an odd automobile fatality, you quickly find yourself mixed up with sorcerous members of L.A.’s business elite, a wave of rat attacks, and a child’s disappearance.

@Karver, I'm itching to try out Dungeon World. What Unisystem thing would you be interested in?

I have some ideas for my DW char spinning in my head:
- a shaman, from a jungle tribe, who can breathe water, and is looking to find out the root of the strange disease decimating his kin
- a samurai in a low fantasy setting, focused, educated, precise, doing her duty in both court and battlefield, probably leading a small force (8-10) of low-rank samurai
- an awakened mage in modern times, something of a WoD mage

Willing to Dm I'm willing to Dm 5e though it would be a very simple campaign as it would be my 2nd attempt at trying to run a game.
games I want to play 5e, pathfinder, dungeon world, numenera. A holy ranger in either 5e or Pathfinder in a curse of staud like game.

Offering to GM: DnD 3.5e, 5e. A little Pathfinder. Heavy homebrew stuff. Ask for more, I'll almost try anything.

Game request: I would like to play through a possible one-shot James Bond homebrew 5e game.

Offering to GM: Hombrew in this Pathfinder setting or homebrew in this 5e setting. I can also GM using d20 Modern, Star Wars Saga, or Numenera, but I am most interested in running a couple solos in my older settings (but it wouldn't hurt to ask about the others).

Game request: A game to take a spore druid out for a spin in (5e) or Numenera, as it lends itself to solo games very well.

Hi all, I think this is an awesome idea, and timely from my point of view as I'd been planning to post in the "seeking games" forum already!

I have a more specific request than the rest of the entries I've seen, so do let me know if I'm being unreasonably picky...
I would like to play a solo Pathfinder game, specifically either an Adventure Path or a published module. I rarely get to play either and have enjoyed the few I've been involved in, but my real life seriously limits my ability to play. A solo character would give me a chance to really try out the Paizo published stuff fully though. Obviously the APs and modules are designed for 4 players, so could be pretty tricky to deal with at low levels, so perhaps it would be sensible to start level 1 modules at level 3-4 as a solo player - but that's for discussion if anyone's interested in DMing me! I've played or am playing in Rise of the Runelords, Kingmaker and Reign of Winter, so any other would be great and of the modules I've heard very good things about Dragon's Demand as a solo run, so that could be a start.

I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to DM a solo campaign, but if anyone would like a Pathfinder solo I can probably be persuaded...

Thanks for reading and I look forward to playing with someone.

Greenvoid, I see that you noted Dark Sun in your "want to play" section. That's my all time favorite setting; 2e version Art by Brom and Baxa. The Awakened Mage is awesome and I could see that fitting in very well with Dark Sun. I'd tweak the playbook just slightly to include some Defiler options on Arcane Focus, but it would work really well.

Any Interest in a Solo Campaign using the old adventures? I have all of them, + the entire setting for 2e. I would use the Psion for a Psionicist playbook (a "good" Psionics handbook port to DW).

@Karver, that's an awesome idea, I did not think about that. Can it work with a Preserver? I won't want to keep defiling that already ravaged world.

I saw you listed Unisystem as an example, I haven't listed that but I played and GM'ed it before, so if you can think up of something, let's talk about that. In fact, I have WitchCraft and it is well suited for some zombie investigation and action with guns and magic, if you fancy that.

Want to play: D&D 3.5 or 5e, PF, GURPS

I do not play wizards or sorcerer's. I want a role play heavy game. I like adult situations and while I don't mind humor in a game, I don't want a silly game. I want to stick to medieval settings, but jumping from one world to another could be interesting. I also don't mind my character getting cursed, kidnapped and sold to slavery, etc. I would like a 4+ times a week posting schedule. I don't mind starting at low levels. I like to play core races as well as non standard races. My characters usually stick to 1 class. I don't like dungeon crawls.

Would be interested in using the World Serpent Inn - https://1d4chan.org/wiki/World_Serpent_Inn but it's not a requirement.

Possible character ideas:
* A runaway slave that has been trained as a thief or assassin.
* A fighter that accidentally killed someone in a tournament and now is receiving death attempts.
* A ranger or druid that was poisoned by a rare poison that isn't immediately deadly but has no cure. The character has so far only managed to figure out a delay potion that must be brewed fresh deadly.

I have tried DM'ing in the past, and it didn't work out, but if someone is willing to work with a newb then I might be persuaded. I would DM 3.5, PF or 5e. It would likely be a module game to start out with.

Is the James Bond thing something you have fleshed out? Sounds like fun! I don't currently have anything worked out for that, but it sounds super interesting and I would be game to work something up with you. PM me if you have any details!

I might be interested in the Witchraft version of uni. I was thinking about a zombie Apocalypse game of AFMBE when I wrote that up. Let me check out the book and see if it’s a direction I’d like to go. Assuming you have run a few games before and probably have a story idea already kicking about?

As for a preserver, yes, absolutely. I figured I’d add an option to Arcane Focus that allowed you to defile, or take an ongoing debility if you failed the roll. A defiler wouldnt need to roll, they would just defile and gain focus based on terrain type.

EDIT: If you would like to play the DS campaign, I’ll set up a folder and an OOC thread so we can start that up. Would you want to play that as a duo, or just solo. Either is fine for me.
