Kikonu: I'm going to eat your guts!

"Shall I reveal what is in store for your companion, Amatatsu?"

The blood drained from Andril, leaving a trail as the two shinobi dragged his body away, up the stone steps and out of the catacombs. Rokuro was out of breath and out of time, and soon he would be dead. He looked up at his captor, skin shining red with eyes burning like the fires of deepest Hell. The ukiyo-e of them was not exaggeration. They had tusks and teeth like razors, monsters dressed in men's clothing.

"We will defile his corpse: he shall devour the flesh of his kinsmen forevermore! And he, like you, will guard this place for eternity. We are the shadow of the moon, Amatatsu: none may live that know our face. And soon shall we realize our goal, for you are the last." His captor smiled, like a hungry wolf. The long-nosed bird-man behind him giggled, dancing in his armor.

Each spoke in a tongue not native to this land, for none were not of this land. The conflict of these men was not the conflict of Varisia, but of Minkai, in distant Tian Xia. Still, it had shed the blood of Varisians, for here, in Brinewall, Rokuro had seen the whole of its Varisian guard fall, the Ulfen mercenaries, all of the servants. Not five minutes ago, despite his kingly struggle, he had seen his friend, Andril Kortun, slain before his eyes. Blood stained these walls on his behalf. All of this, Rokuro's fault.

"Where is your family, Amatatsu? Where is your woman? Tell us and we will only eat her liver. Tell us, and we will return your head to the shrine of your ancestors," said the leader. His three companions laughed: one blue man, one orange woman, and the red feathered bird-man, giggling, crying out, "This is like a play! A tragic comedy! He is like a raven, trapped in the body of a man—"

"Silence, Kikonu, or I shall break off your nose and choke you with it!" roared his captor, turning to the long-nosed creature; he cried and fell back. The tusked giant turned his fire-gaze back to Rokuro. "Where is the Seal? Give me the Seal, and I shall end this." The beast smiled and drew his katana: over-large and razor-teethed, it was not the weapon of a man. It was the weapon of a demon.

"I have no family. I am the last, for I knew you were coming: why should I pass on the burden of my blood?" he said, with deep sincerity in his voice. "As for the Seal, I opened it to destroy it." He knew that he would not believe that. It was a poor lie. But if they had come this far, then the Seal was safe. It was safe, and they would never find it. Not now. And as long as he kept his mouth silent, and they damned his soul to torment these halls for all eternity, his secret was safe.

The demon drew its arm back and slapped him, throwing teeth and blood across the room. The gauntlet and the hand within were larger than the man's head. "Lies! We know of your wife, Amatatsu. Give us the Seal and I shall make her passing painless!" He knew better. He had prepared for this day all his life. They must kill all the Amatatsu for their plans to begin. They were the key. They were the last.

Rokuro was tired. He was tired of fighting, tired of running. He must hold fast. But he must end this. Or he would break. His head was heavy, his breathing labored. So tired. If he told them, they would end this quickly. He must.

"Come closer. So that I may tell you where the Seal is," he whispered. The demon raised a hairless brow, and fell to one knee, looming over Rokuro. A smile to the demon, who smiled back. "Tell me, Amatatsu," it said.

Rokuro drew in his breath, prayed to his ancestors for forgiveness, and closed his eyes, dripping, salt-brine tears mixing into his opened wounds.

"If it were right before you, you'd never know it. Your horned head is too far up your ass to see it."

The demon roared, and the man saw only the flash of the massive sword. The blue demon in shinobi garb approached and began the rite without skipping a beat, binding the soul before the body was cold.

The oni let loose a howl, slamming his katana into the blood-stained walls of the vault. His companions, save the blue shinobi, backed away towards the steps leading upward. Their leader was the vessel of rage, and this was his cage. The columns and the walls were scarred now with the blood of the fallen, their essence, and his anger. When at last he was spent, heaving and growling in the corner, his back to them, the orange oni stepped forward, past the quivering form of that bumbling idiot Kikonu. If not for her dog legs, she might be beautiful.

"There is... We discovered that he sent his wife ahead, on a ship in the middle of the storm. We may catch them, if we hurry," it said, her eyebrow heavy, her eyes bulging. Behind her, the shinobi returned, and began to search the room, avoiding the body of the dead Amatatsu, now glowing blue as the entrapment began.

The oni lord smiled. "Then we shall follow with the haste of thunder-gods."

Welcome to Minkai's Overlord, a Pathfinder Adventure Path fraught with danger, mystery, camaraderie, and intrigue, all wrapped in a journey across the wide world of Golarion. Your character, should you choose to create one, will reunite with an old friend in the Varisian town of Sandpoint, and from there will discover a secret that has haunted the Lost Coast for more than twenty years. Setting up a caravan and heading east, you will find yourself halfway across Golarion in exotic Tian Xia, where gods, ghosts, and warlords vie for control of not just the land, but your very soul. Is it destiny or chance that drives you forward?

Can you defeat Minkai's Overlord?
  • This campaign is based on Jade Regent AP. I might not follow the entire script if you know the adventure. We'll take this one book at a time and renew our commitment to the game at the end of each.
  • I'm not going to use the Jade Regent Player's Guide.
  • This game will obviously take place in Golarion.
  • I will accept no more than 6 characters, but will aim for 5 players.
  • The game will begin in Sandpoint, a small village in Varisia, along the Lost Coast. Get to know the area.
  • I'm not going to use the caravan or relationship rules
  • If I don't have enough quality apps, I might not launch the game at my discretion

Your hero
right-aligned image
Amatatsu Tsutoku (aka Rokuro): Die with honor!
Name: Your character's name.
Age: Look at your race age range
Homeland: What is your character's homeland? Do they have one? Where in Golarion are they from? Be familiar with the region and the type of stereotypes people make about that region.
Sandpoint: Why are you in Sandpoint? What's driven you to stay to this small speck on the map? If you've never been to Sandpoint, why are you coming here at all? If you never left Sandpoint, why not?
Description: This is a physical description of your character. I do not require it, but it might be of use. I suggest you incorporate this into your tale with your NPC: motions, movements, your clothes and the like.
Background: What's your character's backstory? Let me know, in as long a form as you like (two-four would be preferable, but I'll read as much as you want to write). What's their family life like, their childhood, adolescence? Did they travel? Stationary? Mundane? Extraordinary? If you need to do research, I will gladly be of help, though my knowledge of Golarion outside of the regions pertinent to this campaign is dependent on my interest in the region.
Associate NPC: See below for more info
Impressions: Your impression of other characters. This will help us develop relationships before the game starts. However, this is obviously not required because, depending on how many people apply, this will become burdensome.
The following are optional things you may include on your application:
Image: If you want an image for your character, go for it. If you can't find one, I can check my massive character image folder for one that matches your appearance/character idea, or you could build a character portrait using

Here are the character creation rules.

Game System: Pathfinder PFSRD PAIZO ONLY! No third party sources or custom stuff will be allowed.
Posting Frequency: 1/week minimum
Level: 1
Wealth: Max for your class
XP:Normal
Class: Core, Base, Hybrid and Unchained.
Archetype: One per class maximum
Races: Core, Standard. If you apply as a Tien, you never visited Tian Xia. At least half the party will be selected from the core races.
Alignment: No evil.
Point Buy: 25 points.
HP: Full at level 1. Each hit die thereafter gives average roll. (e.g. d4 hit die gives 2 HP, d6 gives 3, d8 gives 4, d10 gives 5, and d12 gives 6.)
Traits: You may select maximum two. No flaws.
Alternate Racial Traits: None allowed
Firearms: Emerging (Advanced firearms doesn't exist). Firearms can only fire three-time maximum per round because of technical limitation.
House rules: We are going to use the background skills.
Your favorite NPCAssociate NPC: Select one of the original NPCs from Sandpoint with your application OR create an entire new NPC that is currently in Sandpoint. Your hero absolutely needs to have a particularly relationship with that selected NPC. This NPC will be a support character during the campaign if your app is selected. He should be more Level 3, and will follow the party level -2 after the PC achieve level 5.experienced and probably older than your PC. It could be a friend, family member, love interest, respectful rival, mentor and so on. If you create a new NPC please I need at least two paragraphs about this person and a physical description. If you are selected for the campaign the NPC will join the story and will be a good support character for the crew. You will be responsible to help me making him part of the story. Though most of the time he won't accompany you in dungeons and battles.

Associate Story: Tell a short story involving your character and the NPC they know. It can be a tale of your mutual shenanigans, or of a particularly fun drinking session. It can be a tale of unrequited (or was it?) love, or one of a bitter falling out between your character and the NPC. Make it a good one, one worth telling. The NPC could be a friend, mentor, even a respectful rival. Think of a relationship that will spice up our story a bit.

The heir of Minkai: It's not a well-kept secret that the original Jade Regent AP focus on Ameiko that is heir to a great Kingdom called Minkai. If she is not selected as a favorite associate NPC, I will probably consider for that role another Tien NPC one of you may have created OR I will create an entirely new NPC heir instead. I'm also willing to consider Tien a PC app for that role, but that would be big shoes to fill to keep the party together and be inclusive of the other PCs goals and opinions. That's going to be a surprise in that case. Regardless, I intend to give a bigger role in the story to the PCs than what was intended in Jade Regent. You won't feel only as the heir's bodyguard for those who know the original story.

Extra trait: Your hero gets one trait from the Jade Regent Players Guide associated with your favourite NPC. All the traits are available for your favorite NPC.

Note from the DM about Jade Regent: The original main NPCs of the AP called Jade Regent are Ameiko, Shalelu, Sandru and Koya. You can find their description in the Jade Regent player guide. However, I might not use them in the main story arc if they are not selected by the PCs.

Shalelu Andosana

Name: Shalelu Andosona
Race: Elf
Age: 132 (Born 4581)
Height: 5'7
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blond
Class: Ranger 3 (Str 12, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 12, Wis 14, Cha 11)

Shalelu is older than the town of Sandpoint, yet she’s come to think of it as her hometown—a town that has finally grown up enough to survive on its own without her watching over it from the wild

Although Shalelu Andosana is something of a mystery to the residents of Sandpoint, she’s certainly one of the town’s most admired defenders. She doesn’t actually live in town, but she sometimes spends the night at the Rusty Dragon free of charge, thanks to her long friendship with Ameiko Kaijitsu.

Everyone in town knows that Shalelu is something of a loner and prefers to spend her time wandering in and exploring the wilderness around Sandpoint. She periodically vanishes from the region for weeks or even months at a time to visit friends elsewhere in Varisia (particularly, it’s said, near Hook Mountain or up north near the elven village of Crying Leaf ), but she never fails to return to Sandpoint. No one quite understands why she keeps coming back. When asked why, she merely says, “Someone’s got to keep an eye on you all.”

Her timely reports of goblin activity have helped save folk from ambushes or warned the militia of possible attacks on the town or the surrounding farmlands numerous times. Yet in recent days, Sheriff Hemlock has begun taking a more active role in patrolling the surrounding area, and his militia is better trained now than ever before, which means that Shalelu’s aid in keeping an eye on the hinterlands is growing less and less necessary. She actually seems relatively pleased with this development, however, as though she’s proud that Sandpoint is finally starting to look after itself rather than disappointed at not being needed any longer. She has even started hinting that she’s thinking of taking a long journey away from Sandpoint sometime in the future, but whenever she is pressed for details, she just shrugs and changes the topic.

Shalelu is now in one of the happiest times of her life, and has been seized with a restless wanderlust. In recent years, Shalelu has built a strong friendship with Ameiko Kaijitsu as well, and sees her as a sister. Shalelu knows that Ameiko is haunted by tragedies, and in some ways sees a reflection of her own sad history in Ameiko. Shalelu hopes to find some way soon of helping her friend overcome her melancholia—perhaps a nice long trip will fit the bill.

Sandru Vhiski

Name: Sandru Vhiski
Race: Human
Age: 33 (Born 4680)
Height: 5'10
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown
Class: Rogue 3 (Str 16, Dex 14, Con 12, Int 10, Wis 10, Cha 13)

Sandru Vhiski never took the easy path in life—mostly because life’s easiest path could have been to follow his brother into a life of crime among the Sczarni, a path Sandru prides himself for having never set a single foot upon.

Sandru Vhiski is a charming man, handsome and irreverent in precisely the ways that could have made him a highly successful Sczarni con artist, even before one takes into account in the fact that his older brother, Jubrayl, is Sandpoint’s local Sczarni leader. Sandru doesn’t live in Sandpoint, although he considers himself one of the town’s citizens nevertheless. He’s only in town a few days out of every month, for his caravan is one of the region’s busier examples. Traveling with his adopted mother Koya Mvashti and a pair of Varisian brothers named Bevelek and Vankor Dalmuvian, Sandru makes the trip from Riddleport to Magnimar to Korvosa several times a year. While he makes enough money on these journeys from trade, money isn’t Sandru’s primary motivation—he loves the road, and he loves the tradition. It doesn’t take much to get Sandru talking about Varisian history, dance traditions, scarves, fortune-telling, horses and wagons, landmarks and legends. In the off-seasons, when weather makes travel too dangerous or too uncomfortable, Sandru prefers to stay in Magnimar, where he helps other Varisians with his carpentry skills and flirts with the political scene in that town. He’s not yet had the conviction to fully become a representative of his people in Magnimar, though, since he knows the call of the road will pull him from any local responsibilities as soon as the rains clear each spring.

Koya Mvashti

Name: Koya Mvashti
Race: Human
Age: 66
Height: 5'7
Eyes: Pale blue
Hair: Grey
Class: Cleric of Desna 3 (Str 6, Dex 10, Con 12, Int 12, Wis 19, Cha 14)

While most people might think Koya’s lived a full life, she aches to make one grand journey worthy of being retold as a legend before she grows too old to travel.

Until she passed away from natural causes just a few months ago, Madame Niska Mvashti was the oldest person in Sandpoint. No one quite knows exactly how old the Varisian seer actually was when she died (she was already old when Sandpoint was founded over 40 years ago)—but the fact that her only daughter Koya is herself an old woman is a telling fact. Koya has spent a fair amount of her life traveling Varisia with a number of caravans, serving as a healer when she was younger and more recently as a fortune-teller. For the past several years, she’s in the company of her adopted son Sandru Vhiski as they travel on a regular caravan route between Riddleport, Magnimar, and Korvosa two or three times a year. Their caravan spends most of its time relatively close to Sandpoint, though, and that has suited Koya fine, since it gave her more time to care for her aged mother. Now that old Niska has finally died, though, Koya’s mourning has transitioned into a sort of morose melancholy. A life-long worshiper of Desna, she’s come to realize that while she’s traveled extensively throughout the Varisian lowlands, she’s never been beyond the region’s borders. Tales of other Desnan explorers have long delighted Koya’s sense of wonder—even her own mother reputedly took part in several extensive caravans that traveled as far as the Lands of the Linnorm Kings and even down to Qadira. Koya’s having something of a latelife crisis as a result—a growing sense of disappointment that she’s never made a long caravan trek. With her mother dead, Koya has little reason to stay in Varisia, and she’s been pressuring Sandru to take a long journey soon: “The sooner the better, ’cause I won’t be around for long!” Koya’s in remarkably good shape, physically, for a woman well over 60 years in age—obviously, longevity runs in her family—but with each year that passes, the chance of her getting to experience a truly epic journey like the ones in her favorite stories grows narrower.

Koharu

Name: Koharu (小春) Kobayashi
Race: Human (Tien)
Age: 17 (4696)
Height: 5'8
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black
Class: Commoner\Cook Lv 1 (Cha 19)

A mysterious young woman, born with the gift of light, cursed with a tragic past.

Hitomi is born in Sandpoint. Her birth a tragedy as her mother died in labour and her dad, mister Kobayashi, died from a dead liver and broken soul in grief a few years later. Not much is known about her parents' origin, they arrived in Sandpoint with nothing around the year 26 years ago4687 claiming that they were merchants from Korsova who got ambushed on the road and lost everything. Without parents, she became one of the foster child of Koya Mvashti and little sister of Sandru Vhiski. She grew up also with a Sylph named Aurora Mvashti that was adopted by Koya's mother a long time ago and Canan Mvashti the half-orc who joined the family as well more recently. The Mvashiti family is well known in Sandpoint for his generosity and they had several adoptive children over the decades. Surrounded by love and friendship she recovered from her tragic loss and has a normal life. These days Hitomi is an extraordinary cook in the rusty tavern. Her talent in the kitchen is famous in town and with Ameiko Kaijitsu's artistic abilities and beauty they managed to make the place very famous in the region.

Gifted with a sharp mind, she grew up to be a stunning lady with wide almond eyes, a triangle chin and high cheekbones. Her long hairs are pitch black, straight and thin like an angel hair, her long legs and round shoulders are strong and perfect like a marble's sculpture. She is a beauty but doesn't put herself in value most of the time with a towel holding her hair together and food all over her apron. It's not from Koya that she learned how to make up and dress like a lady, but she was educated as a very polite and gracious person. Her favourite time of the day is at noon, taking a bath of sun lying down in the grass when she can escape the kitchen. Hitomi has many talents when it comes to her hands such as painting, wood-crafting, writing and so on. She has good friends in town and pretty much loved by most of the townfolks that see her as a child who was raised by the community. She is a bit shy and naive, which is not anormal for her young age. A not so well kept secret is that she can conjure light at will by clapping fingers, a funny trick that never developed into anything. She never saw blood except when goblins dared attack town and never holded a weapon in her entire life either. Koya and Sandru been overprotective of her, are well satisfied to see her growing up away from the violence of the world.

Ameiko Kaijitsu

Name: Ameiko Kaijitsu
Race: Human (Tien)
Age: 24 (4689)
Height: 5'6
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black
Class: Bard 3 (Str 10, Dex 14, Con 13, Int 12, Wis 8, Cha 18)

Although she’s technically the head of one of Sandpoint’s noble families, Ameiko Kaijitsu is more at home running things at her ta vern, the Rusty Dragon, than she is among the small town’s aristocracy.

Ameiko is a beautiful but somewhat irreverent woman of Tian descent who runs Sandpoint’s Rusty Dragon tavern and happens to be a member of one of Sandpoint’s founding families. Her parents and older siblings have met unfortunate ends over the past several years, leaving the young woman as the sole remaining Kaijitsu in town. Ameiko may be among the town’s nobility, but she’s never really cared for the aristocracy—she’s always had an urge to explore, and loves hearing stories of adventures and daring deeds. While she has a lot of friends and admirers in town, Ameiko has never accepted anyone as anything more than a friend, diplomatically avoiding personal questions and proposals of romance, much to the frustration of several eager suitors in Sandpoint. She’s a talented singer and samisen player, and if she wanted, Ameiko could probably lead a comfortable life in Sandpoint, but she’s growing increasingly bored and impatient with having a “safe life” in a “safe town.” If the chance to go on a grand adventure presents itself, she’d sell the Rusty Dragon in a heartbeat to seek her fortune.

The Minkai's Overlord
left-aligned image
Once, there were five Imperial families: five families that, by right of the gods, could sit upon the Sakura Throne. And in the twelve hundred years since the destruction of the Teikoku Shogunate, those five families have ruled in relative peace and harmony with nature and the other nations of Tian Xia, fighting just wars against goblins, oni, and warlords promising insurrection.

But this is no longer true. Shizuru, the Empress of Heaven, no longer smiles down upon us.

One by one, the emissaries and masters of the five clans began to disappear, until only two remained: the current Emperor and his Clan, the Higashiyama; and the Amatatsu, ever-faithful to the Sakura Throne. Perceiving the threat, the two clans reacted differently.

The Amatatsu fled, running as far from those who threatened them as possible. They headed north, through the Forest of Spirits, and over the Crown of the World. They were lost in the snows, and never heard from again.

The Higashiyama ruled openly, until four years ago, when the clan placed the Emperor within the boundaries of his imperial home. In his stead, he placed his friend and bodyguard, Soto Takahiro, as Regent, watching over the Sakura Throne until the time it was safe to sit upon it once again.

And in those four years, taxes have risen, priests and families have forgotten their ancestral gods and begin to preach heresy across Minkai. Loyal lords are banished, good samurai are demeaned and exiled, and those who resist or speak ill of the Regent, such as myself, are mutilated or killed.

What became of the Higashiyama and the Amatatsu? I cannot say. Nor can I say what will become of me. This is my last entry in my life-long attempt to map the history of Minkai from the ancient past to its unclear future. I am old, my family in hiding, my line secure.

What can they do to me? They have dishonoured my Emperor, destroyed divine and familial piety, ruined tradition, and spoiled the lands of Minkai. If not me, then who?

Who can stand against the Minkai's overlord?

Priest of Sarenrae
left-aligned image
Toban Torman of Sarenrae
Human (Varisian), Male, Neutral Good
Theologian Fire Cleric 1

"There is a fire within us all smoldering away, and if you stoke the flames it will burn brighter and stronger."

Appearance
Toban is certainly young enough by human standards being only twenty years of age, with all the energy and confidence that his youth brings. A thick mane of reddish-brown hair and a busy beard frames smooth skin and blue eyes, and despite being smaller in stature and size he is certainly muscled enough in his own fashion to suggest he is not above a hard days work. He dresses simply enough earthier tones, and could easily be mistaken for an apprentice or journeymen of any number of trades. The curved blade of a scimitar hangs securely at his side along with a hammer that looks worn with heavy use, but more obvious and marks him as a follower of the Dawnflower is the angelic ankh that is openly displayed around his neck. His voice is deep and carries but at the same time is soft, and is smile is easy giving him an unassuming appearance.

Sandpoint & associate NPC
Toban's reason for being in Sandpoint is none other than Ameiko Kaijitsu, the owner of the Rusty Dragon. Toban had always found her a remarkable young woman, and a pleasure to be around, so when he was last in town he found himself often in the Rusty Dragon where he found the company she kept to be quite accomplished and a great deal of fun. So with his apprenticeship complete at the forge and the suggestion of Father Nalor to get a bit of seasoning and scratch his adventuring itch, he immediately thought of Ameiko as somebody who could help him get introduced to some adventuring souls. So finding himself back in Sandpoint, with a room at the Rusty Dragon, he had a talk with Ameiko last night about his plans to adventure over a couple drinks and she agreed to help him find a group adventuring souls he might join up with.
A night of cards at the Rusty Dragon...The night was late and the ale cups were losing their appeal as the rain fell and the thunder boomed outside, but it was barely noticeable to the five of them that sat engrossed in their game of cards with a pot at stake that had been building all night. Things were getting serious now and this was the hand that would decide it all, one way or another somebody was about to have a good night. Looking down at his cards and then at the other Toban wasn't sure how this would play out, Ameiko had her ever present smile, Joral's face was like rock and just as unreadable, Liera impatiently drummed her fingers upon the table and Gretin's eyes had their hooded stare. ***wip***

Personality
As a man of faith it is no surprise that he has a strong belief in many of the teachings of Sarenrae and does his best to live up to her ideals as best he can, helping those in need and being a stalwart friend to those he knows. He is honest with himself and others, as he knows he is not perfect and he hopes that he can lead by example in his own way. While he is confident and passionate about his work with the forge and the teachings of Sarenrae, he doesn't seek to be a leader among those he works with, and instead finds himself drawn to those who are bold enough to take charge when needed. He is young and no where near ready to settle down, quite the opposite truthfully, he knows there is a great big world out there and he wants to see it for himself and let the goddess guide his path as needed.

Background
Toban grew up in a relatively simple life, his mother is Varisian and a fine seamstress by all accounts with a small shop that she sells her clothes from and his father had a small little bistro style restraunt in the city of Magnimar. His mother was originally from Sandpoint and Toban was born there as well, it was only when he was five that they had moved to Magnimar. The family still returned to Sandpoint often enough over the years to visit friends, though lately there are fewer of his parents generation still around those parts and the trips have become less frequent. Sandpoint remains a happy place for Toban, with the many festivals and good times that they had whenever they went , something he remembers often. His mother was a follower of Desna to some degree, but it was his father who was passionate about Sarenrae and his passion won out over his mother's distant relationship with Desna, and they would often attend temple services whenever it was feasible.

Toban unfortunately lacked the passion for cooking of his father or the good fashion sense of his mother, but found a calling all his own over the heat of the forge bending metal into useful form. Father Nalor, a smith and priest of Sarenae recruited him into the church and took him on as his apprentice, taught him to wield Sarenae's fire to bend metal to his will and showed him her compassion. He took to the forge like he was destined for it, and with Nalor's guidance his prowess with the flames grew as well

Toban wrestled with where his future was taking him, for he was far from ready to settle into the church forges and the big wide world called to him. Upon completing his apprenticeship he consulted with Nalor about his future and his mentor nodded knowingly it was no uncommon for the faithful to need some assurance they were on the right path, so he suggested Toban take some time to see the world and determine his place in it. A quest to find oneself, and where better to start such a quest than Sandpoint .

Character Concept
right-aligned image

Name: Samir Ebrahid
Race: Human (Keleshite)
Class: Swashbuckler (Whirling Dervish)
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Age: 19
Homeland: Qadira, Padishah Empire of Kelesh

Sandpoint: Samir has arrived in Sandpoint after completing a contract as a caravan guard for Sandru Vhiski. Sandru requested he stay at Sandpoint instead of returning to Qadira as there may be the potential for a far more lucrative opportunity if he was willing to travel.

Description:
Samir is a lean, handsome man of average height with caramel brown skin and short naturally curly black hair that peeks out from underneath a bright blue turban. He is square jawed with regal looking features, and his brown eyes burn with a deep intensity to them underneath his thick eyebrows. A pair of dark blue lines are tattooed underneath his eyes, giving him a rather primitive look. He has an easy smile and a freshly groomed beard, and his ears each have two golden hoops in his earlobes. He wears a long, loose looking short sleeved robe of bright blue with gold trim, and from a leather loop around his neck hangs the symbol of Sarenrae. Underneath his robes he wears a simple white long sleeved shirt and pants with a pair of sturdy well worn traveling boots. Around his waist is a thick cloth belt of scarlet tied strongly at his waist and looped through his robes, from which hangs an ornate looking scimitar and several daggers. His posture and bearing signify one of noble birth, but his appearance indicates one of a lesser class. His voice is surprisingly soft for a man of his appearance, and surprisingly articulate.

Personality:
Samir is passionate and proud, with a fiery temper that dissipates just as quickly as it arises. He is charismatic and personable, and enjoys being around others no matter what the circumstances. A natural performer, he loves the crowd and the energy of those within it. Soft spoken but brash and willing to stand his ground, his pride and stubbornness can sometimes bring him trouble but his genial nature and overall good intentions often tends to smooth the situation over. He is optimistic and cheerful, and prefers to see the good in others first but has problems with authority due to his bold and stubborn mindset. He has no qualms with crossing blades with those he deems needing a lesson, but prefers to subdue or humiliate his foes rather than to end their lives. If the situation warrants it, however, he has no problem running an enemy through although he will feel guilty about it afterwards. He is usually quite patient and peaceful, looking to see if a situation can be handled without resorting to blows, but when his temper flares he is one of the first to cross steel with someone. Innately curious with a sense of wanderlust, Samir is eager to see the world and everything it has to offer.

Background:
Hailing from Qadira, Samir was Child of the Temple faith trait.raised in the Church of Sarenrae by his parents, both of whom were highly religious and members of the clergy. His father Khasek was a scribe in the Church's archives, and his mother Neesa was the lead performer and most talented of all the Church's religious dancers. From a young age Samir relished in their service to the Dawnflower, as every day was excitement with performing and worship as his family embraced their Althameri roots. Samir was a natural dancer and enjoyed the thrill of the crowd, and as soon as he was old enough he joined the celebrations under the tutelage of his mother. He soon met his father's best friend Hasim Rimja who taught the young Samir and other promising young Kelesh boys the honorable craft of the sword dance. Sarenrae sword dancing is full of powerful and fast blows as they engage in realistic looking combat with each other, but they learn to Merciful Scimitar religion trait.control their blows to prevent any serious injury. Samir loved every second of it as it combined the dancing he loved with the thrill of wielding a blade as a young man.

When he came of age and was conscripted into the Qadiran military for his mandatory two years of service at the age of 16, Samir excelled in his training in the art of the sword and close combat and was one of the top recruits. Unfortunately, his personality and stubborn pride prevented him from making anything of himself other than a lowly peon who often was stuck performing guard duty and other menial to unpleasant tasks due to his insubordination. His commanding officer in the Qadiran military was more than pleased on the date Samir finished his military obligations, and unceremoniously threw him out of the Katheer garrison with just his belongings in his hands and conveniently forgetting to tell him when the caravan he spent his last coin on was leaving for him to return home.

Stranded and homeless, Samir was desperate for work and struck a deal with a captain near the ports - he would work for free as a deck hand in exchange for a ride to Cassomir. The captain agreed, and soon Samir found himself working another merchant ship, this one heading up the Sellen River to Lake Enchartan where he found himself in Tamran. Instead of returning back to Cassomir, Samir volunteered for a lucrative contract as a Caravan Guard campaign trait from Sandru Vhiski.caravan guard from Tamran to Korvosa under the employ of a man by the name of Sandru Vhiski. Samir and Sandru took an instant liking to each other so Samir continued to work for him, and now practically on the other side of the continent Samir has agreed to stay in this small town of Sandpoint where he stands out like a sore thumb to discuss a new contract with him.

Impressions:
Alice Sobieski - An Irreseni woman with the personality of the most catty Kelesh woman you could know from what he has seen thus far. She appears capable despite her size, so he makes a mental note not to underestimate her.

Eclair Adosona - A rather bookish and serious young lady at first glance, although he appreciates the tailor of her dress for their abilities. She seems quite intelligent too, which combined with her arcane knowledge is a bit intimidating to him.

Inno Minate - Samir feels uncomfortable around her, as the woman appears ill in some way due to her lack of hair. In Qadira a bald woman is a dying woman, so for a woman to choose to wear her hair that way here in Sandpoint is bizarre to Samir. She also seems cursed by the gods, and in his mind's eye one should definitely keep far away from anyone who has warranted a divine curse.

Taurin Bluecoat - At first glance, Samir just assumed this was a child in a giant overcoat. He has heard of halflings and seen one or two in his life, but never this close before. Initially a bit off-putting due to his appearance, Samir recognizes much of his own personality in Taurin and sees him as a kindred spirit in some ways due to his optimism and honesty.

Associate NPC: Sandru Vhiski

Associate Story: Incorporated into his background.

Really interested in this. Obviously, based on the character creation options, some of the classes (like the occult classes) aren't available. And that's fine, I'm not trying to pitch one. However... are occultish archetypes of marginally more normal classes copacetic?

You can make a proposal of occultish archetype applied on a normal class if you'd like.

Eclair Andosona
left-aligned image

Name: Eclair Andosona < -- Click to view sheet
Race: Elf
Age: 121 (Born 4592)
Class: Wizard
Archtype: Poleiheira Adherent
Homeland: Crying Leaf
Sandpoint: Eclair traveled to Sandpoint to finish her arcane studies and also to spend time with her elder sister and her friend Ameiko.
Campaign Trait: Shalelu AndosonaYounger Sibling
Description: Eclair is a petite woman, standing at five foot five and approximately ninety pounds. She wears a finely crafted deep blue/black dress, tailored perfectly to her body. Her long luscious black hair flows freely, though at times she pulls it to one side, which reveals on of her ears, showing her Elvin heritage. At her side she wears a short sword, accompanied by a backpack and longbow, both of exquisite taste.
Personality: A precocious child Eclair has been known to find her way into mischief and trouble. At heart she is a book worm and inventor who loves to explore new ideas and places. When not studying or visiting her sister and Ameiko, Eclair enjoys spending her spare time learning how to craft things like alchemical items, armor, (Background skills)weapons and jewellery. Basically anything she might find useful for upcoming adventures.
Associate NPC: Shalelu Andosona

Associate Story/Backstory: Eclair was born in a small village called Crying Leaf, and lost her father when she was very young to the attack of a bugbear assassin. Her mother, Seanthia, remained unmarried for nearly a hundred years until she took a human mercenary, Jakardos, as a second husband. This choice scandalized the community at Crying Leaf, but Eclair treated him as a father. After Seanthia was killed when a green dragon attacked their hometown, however, Jakardos left Crying Leaf and family out of heartbreak and did not return. This left Eclair and her elder sister Shalelu to question the nature of her mother's and stepfather's relationship, and wondering if Jakardos had been taking advantage of Seanthia. This abandonment left a deep impression on Eclair and Shalelu. Shalelu entered a period of depression and eventually left Crying Leaf to adopt a solitary lifestyle as a ranger and bounty hunter while Eclair headed to a new upcoming town of Sandpoint to advance her studies in the arcane.

Luckily for Eclair, Shalelu eventually settled in the wilds around Sandpoint. This allowed them to visit each other from time to time. While her elder sister Shalelu would watch over Sandpoint. Shalelu developed a close friendship with Ameiko Kaijitsu, which in turn introduced her to Eclair as well. Whenever her sister is in town, they typically spend it at Ameiko's tavern, the Rusty Dragon.

Impressions:
Inno Minate Looks to be a pious woman who is associated with Sandru and a healer to boot. It never hurts to have a friendly healer around, provided there good at their job that is.
Samir Ebrahid A charming man who seems to like to be the center of attention. Not sure if she could trust him right away, but a man who knows many and makes lots of friends or enemies could prove to be a great connection.
Taurin BluecoatA small guy who looks to have seen his share of fighting and training. Who makes the saying...big things come in small packages.
Alice SobieskiKeeps herself looking good, though shes a bit of a recluse. Don't know much about her and that makes her a bit intriguing.
Tac OsmapliteWhat can one say about a dwarf that loves to travel besides it usually takes longer to get there if hes leading the way. He seems like a good lad and loves traveling. That's a double plus in my book.
Aurora Mvashti A Sylph, someone she can actually relate a little bit too. Though she has skill with the sword with an aura of "don't mess with me", I'm sure she has a soft heart on the inside.
Sir Alastor GoldenmaneA man who seems to be drinking and drowning in his own pit of sorrows. He needs to get out of the bottle and back into the real world. I wonder what happen if I cast an aversion spell on him for alcohol.

Begone, foul temptress! Tempterer? Temptation person?

If I had only picked up one group, I would 100% apply to this, but as much as I would love to I really should avoid burning out again
