It's interesting to look at this list, then change backgrounds, and look at it again.

Each time, different ones are near invisible while others drill holes into your very soul...

This seems like a great tool for advertisement makes to make sure they aren't searing any souls for the most popular backgrounds

It would be a great public service if someone who isn't as lazy as I am went through and at least notated the ones that don't disappear on either drake or parchment.

(if you use lime I'm assuming you enjoy retinal pain )

This is of crucial importance. Having diversity of color can be useful, but when it either blends into the background or clashes to the point it ends up becoming painful, it can become counterproductive.

Thanks, Impaled! I end up with black and purple as my only colors because I'm too lazy to research this stuff.

LINKITY

I love spreadsheets, so I made a spreadsheet. I've subjectively marked which colors are easily legible to me. This will vary somewhat from person to person, and from screen to screen. Also, just because something is legible doesn't mean it's a good idea. Fuscia on the Lime theme is a crime against nature!

The number by each theme name is how many are marked as legible. Note that this isn't a good indicator of "score". For instance, on parchment, many of those marked legible are very close versions of white/off-white, so they wouldn't work for, say, distinguishing languages.

The number on the last row is how many themes that color has been marked legible on. Safe colors, in other words.

I was bored again, a little, so I arranged and slightly edited the list of "safe" colors that are reasonably legible on every theme. I left near-duplicates, leave it up to the DM to pick the colors:

Medium violet red
Deep pink
Hot pink
Pale violet red
Fuchsia
Magenta
Orchid
Medium orchid
Dark orchid
Blue violet
Medium purple
Medium slate blue
Slate blue
Light slate gray
Slate gray
Royal blue
Dodger blue
Cornflower blue
Cadet blue
Steel blue
Teal
Dark cyan
Sea green
Forest green
Green
Olive
Olive drab
Dark goldenrod
Peru
Sienna
Brown
Chocolate
Indian red
Firebrick
Crimson
Tomato
Orange red
Red

It seems to me that if you were to turn your setting to Drake or Parchment, then the initial list would quite admirably serve as a complete list of the colors that don't disappear on Drake or Parchment. :P

Has anyone done something like this with Fonts?

I went through drake, parchment and lime, and all the fonts remained visible.
