Admin Varun's Online Game: The Isle of Dread

Finally, I'm trying my own hand at DMing a game at dndonline. The Isle of Dread will be an adventure for 5-6 characters of about 5th level (I haven’t quite decided yet). I am looking for a good group of players and characters that can work well with each other and keep this game going.

Anyone who is interested in playing in this game should go ahead and submit a background for a character of around 5th level (character sheets will come later when I have selected the group) via PM. The character should be a sailor or have some other reason for being aboard a sailing ship (sorry folks, but the position of ship captain has already been filled out). When making your background, please ignore the details and names given in the above letter of Rory Barbarosa. That is only an introduction to this game and I will give much more detailed information once I have selected the players. You are free to work with your own world to shape out your creation – the only set city I have is in the Thanegioth Archipelago (I will be putting up a map as soon as possible).

I plan to read each background submitted, so try your best with your work. Fine details (cities, countries, etc.) really don’t matter right now – all I am looking for is a well-rounded concept that I think fits will with the game I have in mind, and if anything needs to be changed with the background to fit the game, I will make sure I send out a PM.

I haven’t set the game forum up (this will be a private game) so if you have any questions, or would like to know more information, send me a PM or post in this thread. As a final note, I am tentatively setting the deadline for backgrounds to be July 13. A finalized roster list should be out as soon as I can go over all of the submissions.

Cheers,
Varun

As a word of advice, Varun, you would save yourself much trouble in recognizing that you recieved a submition as soon as you can. From personal experience you get much more spam questioning if you got thier character elsewise.

On a side note, did you get my background? *wink*

A game with Varun?

Much too interesting of an opportunity to pass up. I'll send a background a bit later today.

Thanks.

I will send a character background shortly but wanted to make sure you knew that there was an online supplement at the Paizo site relating to the Isle of Dread and their 3.5e revisiting of it in Dungeon Issue #114. It has a map of the Isle and a few of the other locations and such. Well worth downloading for sure. <Link> (Note that it is a 33mb download, they have a low res version on their site as well if 33 is to large for you to dl...)

Sounds fun and happy to throw my name in the hat!

I never played a game were the DM was the admin....

I'll send you a background very soon!

Since the story sounds like it is from the times of pirates and so, does that means we will be able to have renesiance weapons like musket or a pistol?

Sounds like "Mysterious Island" and "Pirates of the Carribean" wrapped in one... Cool

Finally a chance to use my half-elf pirate! Oh man, I sure hope I get this. Administrater aside, if the DM takes the time to make an introductory letter like that then you know the game's going to be good.
