What Theme/Setting should Outplay 2023 use?
Hello again RPG Crossing Community! Believe it or not, work for Outplay 2023 has already begun. This year will have a few changes, most notably a Code of Conduct for all participants is being implemented. We are planning on using the Outplay System again this year. What we have not decided on is a theme/setting for this year's event. This poll will tell us what to use so that we can move along with planning the rest of the event! Additional Information about what this is all about What is Outplay? Outplay 2021 The System The Outplay System rev 2022 Additionally, if you are interested in helping out with planning, or judging in Outplay this year, please shoot me a PM. |

YAY!!! Outplay!!
I'm so excited for this to start up again! And so many options. It makes me love how versatile the Outplay system is, since we can easily adapt it to so many different settings. It also kinda makes me wish I could vote for more than one, though think i'd be happy with anything that we haven't tried already.

The Outplay system has come a long way and serves as a wonderful platform to draw out some highly memorable scenes out of incredibly creative minds! I look forward to what this year will hold!

It's a writer's dream forum! Anyone who wants to test their imagination, challenge their muse, or simply stretch their roleplay muscles should give it a go! Nothing to lose, Worlds to Explore, Fame and Fortune to Achieve! This one's going to be EPIC!!!

It's been fun to watch how the votes have been going so far. For the first bit it looked like Sace/Sci-Fi was going to run away with it. After the banner and voter turnout increased though, Generic Fantasy (low/no magic) caught up to it, and Steampunk has taken the lead! It's nice to see a few people are ready to accept our Robot Overlords' will, and have an AI generate a setting. Not to call out anyone specific *cough* *cough* *Gaijin and HenryLockwood*. The Poll will close on March 6th though, so still plenty of time for any category to steal the win.

My ears were burning!
If we end up needing a tie breaker, I would have voted for Sci-fi as my back-up choice! However, it looks like the Steampunk/Low Magic Fantasy bias shows a clear preference for a more classic gritty experience. Maybe an off-beat Victorian murder mystery?

Why were the other genres not divided into high and low magic?

I was worried I had too many options already. Choice is good. Too much choice can be paralyzing.

Ohh, we are all tied up again! Never call a race before it's over. If we end in a tie though, my vote will be the tie-breaker.

If there is a tie, we should throw out all winning options and default to letting ChatGPT decide.
