The Exodus II
In the vast expanse of space, civilizations have risen and fallen, each leaving their mark on the universe. From the glittering spires of advanced alien cities to the scorched ruins of long-dead empires, the galaxy is full of wonders and mysteries waiting to be discovered.

In this era of interstellar travel and advanced technology, humanity has taken its place among the stars, exploring new worlds and encountering strange new life forms. But with this newfound power comes new dangers, as ancient enemies and unknown threats lurk in the darkness, waiting to strike.

Amidst the stars, brave heroes and cunning villains clash in epic battles for power and control. From spacefaring pirates to elite soldiers of fortune, those with the strength and skill to survive in this new world fight to make their mark on the galaxy.

This is the future, worlds of limitless possibilities and untold dangers, waiting for those with the courage to explore it.

Now its your turn.

Character Creation

1. NameChoose an appropriate Name for your character, and give them a descriptive Name (aka Title). Describe what they look like, and give them some personality. A short background story may be appropriate as well.* The Name and title may describe the type of character they are, or mark deeds they have done in their past, such as Jack the Hacker of the 7 Moons or Clay and the Fists of Steel.

* For Outplay this will be part of the Character Write-Up

2. Origin You are Human. At least you consider yourself to be one. There are millions of places you could have actually come from, or reasons why you consider yourself to be Human now. If you were not born a Human on Mars, please indicate why you consider yourself to be Human now.

3. Character Number (CN)
Roll a 1d6, (rerolling any 1s or 6s), or choose a number between 2 and 5. A low Character Number (CN) means you favor your Humanity, while a higher number means you favor Technology. Humanity includes things like persuasion, acts of physical strength and dexterity, understanding emotions, and reading others' intent. Technology includes things like interfacing with a computer, driving spaceships, using weapons, and cracking encryption schemes.

4. Jobs and Specialized Skills
Every Character has been trained to perform some type of Job. You may have been trained as a Captian, a Security Guard, a Bio-Engineer, a Pilot, or any other job that would have a demand for space exploration. Select a Job, and give a brief description of the types of work you have been trained to do.

Example: You may have been trained as a Sous-Chef. Your Job Description could read: 'Organize and direct multiple chefs to prepare multiple meals a day to keep a full starship crew fed and healthy. Additionally, a Sous-Chef must maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and cafeteria to which they are assigned. An ideal Sous-Chef has strong organizational skills, communication skills, a solid understanding of nutrition and food sources from various sources across the galaxy, is skilled with many types of kitchen instruments, and knows basic first aid'

You also happen to excel at your job. Pick 3 specific tasks related to your occupation in which you are an expert. These are your Specialized Skills. Give each skill a name, a short description, and indicate if it is using your Humanity or Technology.

Example: (Using the Sous-Chef above)
Whip them into a frenzy! Using your Humanity, you can direct a group of people to perform tasks very quickly.
Will it Blend? Using Technology, you can force any kitchen utensil to perform well beyond its normal intended limits.
Do I taste a hit of .... ? Using your Humanity, you can taste any substance and instantly identify what compounds it is made up of.

Playing the Game

Rolling the DiceWhenever you do something that is possible, but could fail, you must make an Outplay Roll. Roll a 1d6. Roll +1d if you are doing something you would have been trained to do as part of your Job to perform the action. Roll +1d if the action is one of your Specialized Skills.

Roll the dice and compare the results to your Character Number (CN).
When your action involves the Humanity aspects of your character, you want to roll ABOVE your CN. Any Penalty is subtracted from each die roll, and any Bonus is added to each die roll. Count the number of dice that succeed. If a die lands on your CN number exactly, count two successes. This type of roll will be specified as Rolling for Humanity.

When your action involves the Technology aspects of your character, you want to roll BELOW your CN. Any Penalty is added to each die roll, and any Bonus is subtracted from each die roll. Count the number of dice that succeed. If a die lands on your CN number exactly, count two successes. This type of roll will be specified as Rolling for Tehcnology

0 - If none of your dice succeed: Extraordinary Failure. The GM will describe what kind of setback results from the failure.

1 - If one dice succeed: Success... Barely. The GM will introduce some kind of consequence.

2 - If two dice succeed: Full Success. You do a great job and perform your task flawlessly.

3 - If three dice or more succeed: Critical Success! The GM will introduce some benefit or extra effect.

HelpingIf you would like to help another character with a roll, describe what you are doing to help and make an Outplay Roll of your own. If successful, they add +1d to their roll.
Note: See clarification for using your training and skills to help here.

Wounds When a character is injured due to events like utterly failing a dangerous task or falling victim to a trap, they gain a Wound. Each Wound adds a Penalty to any Outplay Roll. If a character reaches 5 wounds, they are considered dead. Without medical or technological aid, characters will heal one Wound per day.

Penalties and BonusesCertain situations or narrative effects (determined by the GM) may grant you a Penalty or Bonus on rolls. Your GM will tell you if these apply indefinitely, until a situation is corrected, or if they only apply to your next Outplay Roll.

Weapon AttacksOn a successful Weapon Attack, damage is determined by the number of successes on an Outplay Roll
